I understand the desire to give the Gunner class more unique options aside from the two primary weapons available to each faction, but given the role they fill I think it would be a good idea to make them available to other classes as well. Because the rifleman/commander/observer/demolitions classes all share the same weapon, having more variety to choose from is never a bad idea. The gunner would be able to take the Galil as a lighter option and have exclusive pick of the drum magazines, while other classes could use it in lieu of other assault rifles if they preferred.
In addition, the Galil seems to have way too much recoil in its current form.
