Foot Hills State Forest Map WIP

Hey guys,

Long time lurker and Spintires player. After watching Nix's map tutorial on youtube I decided I'd try my hand at the art of map making. Im about 3/4 done with my first map. Thought I would create a post to document what I've done so far.

Trailing only map using Nix/Spun's custom rocks. Special thanks to them and the rest of the gang for the models as well as everything else they've done for Spintires/MR.

Looking Good Man For Sure!

awesome work mate after watching and trying this myself .. i can only say RESPECT

Bloody hell, that looks insane! You have an eye for detail.

will agree, it is looking good. especially considering that tut has not been out that long, that is some fast work my friend.

now if we could get a good stock bridge with long pillars so people do not have to "stack" them (last pic).

Respect is understatement. I always knew a lot of work went into maps but after actually messing with the editor, I have massive respect for anyone who makes maps, it truly is an art form and a pain in the ass at times.

Agreed, that's just there as a place holder for now. Im trying to figure something else out but we'll see what happens.

Pic of an old abandoned logging area.

The thing that somewhat bugs me about this map is that in my opinion, it doesn't flow very well. I just created as I went and never had a plan in mind so some of the sections dont transition well. Oh well, that just comes with experience I suppose. Next time I'll have more of a plan.

Latest rock section, probably my favorite one. Theres half a dozen major rock sections on this map and I'm still getting the hang of making them look natural.
