Eagerly awaited by many of you for the end of this year, we're announcing the delay of Vampyr's release date to Spring 2018 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Oskar Guilbert, CEO of DontNod Entertainment, explains:

'Delaying the release of a project you hold dear is always a tough decision, however, we believe that meeting a deadline should never compromise quality. We were still convinced just a few weeks ago that we would be able to release Vampyr this year. Unfortunately, a technical issue - now solved - has set our teams' schedule back at the end of the development.

This delay allows us enough time for all the polishing and balancing phase, much needed for a game of Vampyr's scope, with its ambitious, semi-open world, its complex narrative and deep RPG mechanics that give players a real impact on the world.

We want to thank our publisher Focus Home Interactive for giving us the means and time necessary to provide players a memorable experience... especially since so many of you are eagerly waiting for it.'

Vampyr will be available Spring 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

I have a question: will Italian be supported? a few days ago on steam was not present, but now it is present, so I would like your confirmation.

Yes, Vampyr will be available in italian (interface and subtitles, audio is only in english).

Yes it's a shame but it's necessary to make the game better I can't wait to play the game I like to play Alpha and Beta versions how do you get to do this for this I probably won't be closer to your studio I live in Scotland.

It's a pity we need to wait for the game one more year, cause I'm looking forward to play it. I really hope that the delay worth it.

Dear developers,

I notice that there are quite a few obvious Chinese translation errors on the store page of your game.

For example, London should be translated into "伦敦" rather than "伦郭". Yeah '敦' and '郭' may seem very similar towards non-native Chinese speakers, but they are still not the same. in fact, the well-accepted translation of London is based on pronunciation and that's why '敦' /dʊn/ is used, instead of '郭' /gʊɒ/.

If you need further assisstance from a professional English-Chinese translator, I will be willing to help.

For your information, I localized the introduction words as follows:

Hi, you can find the supported languages on the Steam page, here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/427290/Vampyr/ (on the right)

If Vampyr goes as well as Spacehulk Deathwing, you will have a "finished" game in december.

And then, you will have to wait one more year to finish the game.

Ok, so you're probably going to read this as sarcastic or whatever, but what are you on about with this? I'm looking at the page for this (Spacehulk Deathwing) game and it was not made by Dontnod. Does one of the two companies that made that game own Dontnod? I'm looking for more info, not trying to be rude.

I don't know what the state of the game is but from what I saw in the pre-alpha demo. I'm glad they are taking the time to polish.

The environments, atmosphere and music was very good (like Remember Me).

But the combat (like Remember Me) looked very clunky and not great. Whilst I enjoyed Remember Me a lot, this was definitely an issue for the mainstream and it will hurt this game to have bad clunky combat.

The UI in the pre-alpha also needs a lot of work. The disclaimer says the visual elements are not representative of the final product, so I assume they were just placeholders but as it was demonstrated, they are far too distracting and contrasting from the ambience of the game. It needs to fit the theme of the game and blend in. The atmosphere is a key part of this game and an awful UI is a great way to stop the player from being immersed. The combat UI is the worst offender but even the exploration UI elements aren't good.

Finally, the choices need to be made A LOT clearer. The players no longer have the benefit of reversing time (ala Life is Strange), so they need to know what exactly they're picking. The worded choices and resulting voiced dialogues were quite far apart from each other at times during the demo. This is just going to anger a lot of players as they choose options they misinterpreted or thought were going in a different direction.

Good luck DONTNOD. I really do want a good vampire game.
