Our hardcore action RPG The Surge is set to be enriched even further with the release of a major new expansion: A Walk in the Park, coming December 5th to PS4, Xbox One and PC.
In the run-up to release, we'd like to give you more info about the DLC's new content!
Today, let's talk about A Walk in the Park's new implants!
Implants add passive and active skills to Warren, allowing you to customize his gameplay according to your playstyle. The gear you wear and implants you equip all require Core Power to operate. This means that the more you level up your rig, the more options you’ll be giving yourself when it comes to equipment and playstyle.
The Surge: A Walk in the Park introduces 15 brand new implants, massively expanding your combat options. Combined with the implants of the base game, you will have dozens of new combinations and play styles.
Let's take a look at a new example build based on the new gear found in the DLC!
We have here an endgame character with many implants slots (we added implant slots in NG+ to NG+++, as you can see in the screenshot above), but the concept is the same with less core power and fewer implants.
This high energy build gives you many tools to face the deadly mascots of CREO World:
High energy generation
Palladium E-Cell: Increases maximum energy. Scales with Core Power.
Kinetic Converter: Generates energy when blocking attacks.
Implanted Electrodes: Injectable which provides a burst of energy
Sustaining Array: Slows energy decay.
Rig Capacitor XL: Stores energy, stopping energy decay below 30% of maximum energy.
High survability (defense, blocking, impact boost and health)
Ablative Array: Increase defense when energy is high.
Concussive Array: Increases impact when energy is high.
Gyro-Stabilize: Reduces the stamina consumed when blocking attacks.
Plasmic Array: Provides heal over time while energy is high.
Vital Boost: Increases maximum health. Scales with Core Power.
High energy consumption (Damage output and heal)
Drone Power Circuit: Increases the damage of drone attacks by 50%.
Medi-Voltaic Injection: Injectable that uses energy to restore health.
Coupled with a heavy-duty weapon to maximise your impact, and the MANTIS gear set, which reduces all injectable energy costs by 25%, this build gives you very high survivability through blocking and infinite healing as long as you have energy (which is generated by blocking!). It's a slow and steady build: use your drone to damage and knock over your opponents, then control the fight by blocking enemy attacks before your next strike.
This build is only one of the various ways to combine The Surge: A Walk in the Park's new implants with the dozens of existing pieces of equipment from the base game. You'll soon be able to experiment and create your own play style!
The Surge: Complete Edition and A Walk in the Park will be available December 5th on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
