Our hardcore action RPG The Surge is set to be enriched even further with the release of a major new expansion: A Walk in the Park, coming December 5th to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

In the run-up to release, we'd like to give you more info about the DLC's new content!

Today, let's talk about A Walk in the Park's new implants!


Implants add passive and active skills to Warren, allowing you to customize his gameplay according to your playstyle. The gear you wear and implants you equip all require Core Power to operate. This means that the more you level up your rig, the more options you’ll be giving yourself when it comes to equipment and playstyle.

The Surge: A Walk in the Park introduces 15 brand new implants, massively expanding your combat options. Combined with the implants of the base game, you will have dozens of new combinations and play styles.

Let's take a look at a new example build based on the new gear found in the DLC!


We have here an endgame character with many implants slots (we added implant slots in NG+ to NG+++, as you can see in the screenshot above), but the concept is the same with less core power and fewer implants.

High energy generation

Coupled with a heavy-duty weapon to maximise your impact, and the MANTIS gear set, which reduces all injectable energy costs by 25%, this build gives you very high survivability through blocking and infinite healing as long as you have energy (which is generated by blocking!). It's a slow and steady build: use your drone to damage and knock over your opponents, then control the fight by blocking enemy attacks before your next strike.

This build is only one of the various ways to combine The Surge: A Walk in the Park's new implants with the dozens of existing pieces of equipment from the base game. You'll soon be able to experiment and create your own play style!
