After playing an hour of versus, I have come to the realisation that once the checkpoints you're defending have become captured, you must retreat, however, if you are unable there is no actual incentive to return to the field other than to fight, an incentive such as instant death or constant spotting should be implemented to allow the players to retreat and join the fight. The current system of just lowering the weapon is proving as an annoyance as there is no evident timer or incentive to retreat from the previous objective.
