TTK needs a kick up the @#$*

So I prove your claim false about what people "should know" after playing the original by providing proof of my own personal 300+ hours, and your only response is to think that OTHER PEOPLE are still in the wrong for not just magically understanding what you meant in your head, rather than what you said with your words?

Perhaps one day you'll arrive at the (correct) conclusion that the problem resides in you and your assumptions...

I'm starting to think you're only 14, and haven't developed mature thinking skills or sense of personal responsibility at this point...

@amurka The fault lies on me for not being specific enough and assuming we're all on the same page and the fault also lies with other people for not being familiar with the previous game's gunplay and understanding the argument for "1 shot 1 kills" EDIT: Gotta be specific and say that that that would be "1 shot 1 kills for rifles and above"

"1 shot 1 kills for rifles and above"

"...for hits on head or chest" (otherwise people assume you could be asking for hits ANYWHERE to count towards that 1-hit-kill.

I'm gonna get some food and watch a movie. Have a good night.

@amurka
Oh yeah, that too. I forgot.

understanding the argument for "1 shot 1 kills"

Good joke.

Making bad arguments = "YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND IT!!!!"

Feel free to prove me wrong.

Give me an (gameplay) argument for 1 shot kills with every weapon against torso with an example where this argument holds up. So far i haven't heard one. Cyoce tried and couldn't succeed. Maybe you can.

First off
"Every weapon" >>>> Rifles and above caliber 1 shotting to the head, chest and stomach

If you read the reply chain AMURKA quoted a post of mine:

When all the (rifles and above calibers) can kill in 1 shot (to the head, chest and stomach), damage doesn't even become a factor in weapon balance and this increases weapon variety because people will choose a gun that suits their playstyle rather than the highest damaging gun such as the G3 and FAL.

Example: If you want to do long range shots you should pick a gun with high velocity, low recoil (ideally the m16/SKS)
Example: If you want to play up close you should pick a gun that has a high rate of fire, large magazine size, light weight and a fast reload (a full auto AR)
^to go even further, a submachinegun like the mp5/mp7 is even better with all those points - but it is then balanced to not kill in 1 shot.
Example: if you want to be a specialist and clear people through wall on the objective you should pick a gun that is a larger caliber and has increased penetration (a 7.62 gun)

I can assure you that the G3 does 2 of those and even more! - it can kill with 1 bullet to the chest+stomach where the other guns can't. When picking a weapon, damage is the most important weapon property and people will naturally choose the highest damaging gun. When the rifles and above calibers can kill in 1 shot to the head, chest and stomach, damage isn't important and people will then choose a gun that matches their playstyle instead of a catch-all OP 1 shot weapon. This increases weapon variety.

Not being able to 1 shot to the head, chest and stomach means the game becomes full auto spraying gameplay rather than properly aiming, tracking and taking your shots.
This is because you cannot kill in 1 shot so you need to fire as much as you can to increase your chances that 2-3 of you bullets will connect. This means it becomes a game of DPS and recoil control to drag your mouse downwards as you fight the vertical recoil of your gun. This is mindless and unfun gameplay with little depth. Even with only the head killing in 1 shot, you would still be doing the full auto spraying towards the head - you would not be taking your shots. Taking shots = depth to the game.
This is in a 1v1 facing each other obviously. If you sneak up behind someone then you can use single fire to the head.

Killing in 1 shot and being killed in 1 shot means you actually have to put thought into your movement instead of sprinting around everywhere - being reckless will get you punished and killed since you won't survive the first bullet. Right now in Sandstorm's current state you can often run and out in the open, tank bullets (even from a sniper) and keep running.

I think the only disagreement others and myself keep having with you is regarding armor. I agree that an UNARMORED target should get 1 shot to the areas you specified. The moment you throw on heavy armor, though, this SHOULD NOT be the case anymore regarding the chest and stomach...

@thehappybub
And this is for realism purposes right? That you should not be able to 1 shot armor to the chest and stomach?
My solution to that then is:

  • add AP ammo ("Armor Piercing Ammunition") into the game to counter body armor.

I still think making AP ammo 5+ points and heavy armor 5+ points will mean people would choose both less, thus making them more effective because they are not countered as often.

There are already certain weapons in the game that have AP ammo (every 5.56 weapon, every bolt action sniper, MP7) so I don't see why it should be added for anything other than pistol ammo to make pistol play more viable.

If AP ammo ever gets added (which I hope it won't) then I at least agree with your points distribution, including heavy armor being way more expensive than it is now.

@thehappybub
Pistols are a sidearm for backup and shouldn't be viable.

There are already certain weapons in the game that have AP ammo (every 5.56 weapon, every bolt action sniper, MP7)

They don't kill in 1 shot to the chest+stomach on an enemy with armor (like Insurgency2014). So when it says "AP" in the caliber bar, that's just a word.

@slazenger I agree with you that it shouldn't just be a word then. I'm just going for realism here at the end of the day. I just want armor to work realistically and for firearms to work realistically. Certain weapons are just good at penetrating armor because of the way they are. I just wish Sandstorm made it like it is.
