I hear you. I made it to 3rd on the leader board with my Chaos fleet then more Tau players started to catch on to how powerful they are. They are now the only race I'm lucky to get a win against.
I can build a Slaanesh fleet to fight them, but even then it's not a given that I have a chance. Not to mention how that weakens me massively against Orks/Marines/Imperial fleets.
Who thought that a battleship with 200/400 speed, 75 armour on it's front shields and 75 frontal armour, 20 degree turning per second, and 6 wings of bombers that also do boarding actions was a good idea whilst the target ship's troop value is dropped by 5 and it has a 400% bonus to hit a subsystem. At least Tau have the only real battleship in the game.
I could get behind the speed if the thing was fragile and needed to perform hit and runs, but this thing just face tanks like nothing else in the game, whilst hitting like a sledge hammer.
Yeah that ship costs 400 points, but it costs me around 600 points to kill it. And that's if it does not just leave the field to be used for the second round.
I've got 1 type of cruiser and both types of light cruiser that can outpace it. Every other line ship in my fleet is just a speed bump to these things.
Imperials have NO line ships that can match its pace, unless they go for Mezoa then the light cruisers can just out pace it.
Space Marines have light cruisers (which are just escorts with skills) that out pace it.
Orks have nothing that can run with it.
Eldar are the only race that can kite this thing, but they can't risk getting within 7.5k of it.
A battleship that outpaces the bulk of ships in the game.
A battleship that has a 75% chance to stop all damage coming at it whilst it's shields are up from the front.
A battleship that has the same chance to stop all damage once the shields fail.
It can launch 6 bomber wings - each doing a boarding action whilst the target's troop value is reduced by 5.
A 400% greater chance to hit the sub system.
15 degrees of rotation - the same as most races' light cruisers.
It's so broken, it's not funny or fun to play against.
Yea I wonder how long it was before people realise how powerfully air cast favour was speed was the only real weakest for tau and this deals with that.
Combine with 75 amour for shields which is just something to say the least, also repair drones are just dumb out repairing your damage if you can even do any.
Also you need your own carriers for their or you just get bomb to death and seeker miss while their have great firepower to combine with the upgrade that gives the bombers 2 hit to destroy it silly with the tau battleship that can almost one shot a cruiser with it 6 wings let alone with all it firepower as well.
Tau are worser than bad as eldar least they have to keep stealth or they get rekt tau can just site their and not give a shit
To be fair the turret thing is not nearly as good as nurgle since it is mitigated by armor and you need 2 upgrade slots to make it work, so its not that much of a problem.
Granted, I only play persistent, but in my opinion their default troop value should go down to at least 50 + montka and manta assault action upgrade should go. Tau really have no business being good in CQC. Also manta's crit chance is pretty nuts. I get that devs just sumed up crit chances from 3 bombers in regular bomber squads but this in not really equal.
And yeah, that stupid water caste favor. Encouraging such a retarded and annoying tactic of running around spamming ordnance like an ass should really have no place in this game.
This is coming from a person that plays every faction except orks and eldar.

tho i expect some quality too, not saying he is bad
and the custodian is no real treat, ask fosil how well his custodian survives vs imps the so called UP faction
His Cust is pure evil. It does 90*6 damage + 6 boarding actions with its bombers. I've lost a Slaughter cruiser to 1 hit from it due to the crits from the boarding actions, several times now. The Cust is massively broken, it makes the pre nerf Eldar Holy Trinity look mediocre.

never had custodians do much vs me
their launch bays are slow, so bait out their first launch then hurt them a lot before they can send the second
any crits end them, its 400pts in a single target making the rest of the fleet they have against you usually easy
or fly a small ship close to clear its fighter cover with its turrets
then hit it with torps
you can easily hit it with a retributions entire volley at 9k with how wide it is (tho 6k is more reliable)
that can do half of its hp in damage, and then you still have enough points left to add a dictator and another 6 torps for an easy kill once you ram
navy favor is amazing for both baiting bombers and clearing cover
Don't the custodian have a 2nd chance to reroll it defence turrets and it allies with in 6k range vs torps and fighters? along with it own fighters I be shocked you torp one to death even tho it big.
Also if you take fighter cover cos 1 ship won't do it so you need at least 2 how will you shoot one down? you won't be able to bomb it to death and custodian with it own firepower will just kill ship by ship.
