i understand why holofields make lightning strikes impossible
you would be teleporting your people to the wrong place
but a ship with shadofields when detected has no defense, it doesnt have the risk of missing the target with lightning strike
there is no reason why you wouldnt be able to teleport onto them

yes so once you spot them the shield is gone so shouldnt protect vs lightning strikes
the requirement to both spot them and for them to slow down is just unnecessary

Thats not how shadowfields work. Once a hit penetrates them they are gone. Not once you are spottet. They are just badly translated into the game.
But Putting in the Original shadpwfields would mean there is an about 85% Chance to negate any incoming damage until a hit gets trought after which it would simply stop working and thats not really viable for an RTS game

shadowfields are popped by either scan or by getting too close
so they shouldnt protect vs lightning strikes because you can only target them when you have disabled them because you cant target stealthed ships anyway
The point i was trying to make is, the shadowfield is technicaly still there.
The whole thing is somewhat confusing. Shadowfield stealths your ship. But even if you are Detected your Shadowfield is still up. Because stealth is what a Shadowfield does but not a requirement for a Shadowfield to be up.
See what I mean? Thats why i Refered to the tabletop the Ingame variant Tries to simulate somewhat the effect on the tt it just fails horible and contradicts itself while doing so

its like shrodingers ship, once you actually open the box with a scan there is no mystery, the ship is just alive and murderfucking
and even if the shield is still up the shield does stealth, when not in stealth its not doing anything so would also not be doing anything to stop teleportation
like holofields that dont hide but prevent knowing exact location so you might miss the teleport, dark eldar have no such protection once discovered their revealed location is their exact location so you should be able to teleport

As shown in your Text its an energy field which in Addition! Obscures the User, so even when picked out by an Scanner of any kind it is still an energy field
Keep in mind the shadow field in this game isn't JUST a stealth field, it also functions as a holo-field. It's not the best way to translate it (because it seems lazy, as a conversion of a current system), but it's far better than any attempt at a literal version from the tabletop, since that version would become useless as soon as macro weapons got within range (since a hit is what causes them to fail in a literal version). That said, since they are also effectively holo-fields, they provide a miss chance to incoming fire, and immunity to lightning strikes. If they didn't, you'd have to figure out a way to mitigate the fact that there'd be a good chance to make the glass-cannon speed ships quickly incapacitated by having their engines destroyed/damaged, which would eliminate their holo-field effect, AND make them too slow to escape. The only real way to do that at the moment that I can see is making them immune to engine crits until they hit some kind of threshold (damage threshold seems like the easiest, if most strange), but then the question is why not trash their deck and go for morale damage (which DE seem very vulnerable to) instead.

The in-game version isn't an accurate representation of the lore at all, thus I don't think they can be treated the same.
Not being able to LS DE at all till a gen crit (no way you'll get close enough to board a lot of the time isn't engaging or fun.
@ashardalon Wait really? Was I remembering the wrong copy-pasted tooltip? Do they have 'solar sails' then? That's the only other tooltip/explanation I can think of that could be ripped off Aelderi. It has been a while, so I wouldn't be surprised if the odd copy-paste I remember was actually a different thing altogether.
If they have no holo-field effect, and only stealth, I'm not sure how to feel about their durability. They seemed far too durable for something that is only relying on enemy weapon-systems missing/enemies not seeing them, since scouting is a thing (and that escort pulse is pretty decent), and DE ships should be made of paper (no wraithbone, no adamantium, built for speed). I mean, I didn't see them as OP, but so many people were complaining... maybe I started to assume they benefited from both.

they had 50 armor and tended to be running away when they started to get shot
so usually they dodged the single volley that got shot at them
so pretty durable, but if not hiding they where pretty fragile
they where all about the all or nothing
and most people didnt actually use scouting, fielding as many battleships as possible and no escorts except point cappers that suicided
