Objectives Missions

Whatever happened to having an all out battle? Now I spend half of the game chasing littles ships across the map. This is really taking the fun of epic battles from this game, can we please have an option to disable it or something because it's not any fun.

This. I don't want to go around chasing tiny escort ships.

Yeah we need a cruiser clash mode! As a campaign default.

yep its like they said hey what are the worst modes from bgfa 1. ohh you say you dont like planetary assault well i know lets make all the missions planetary assault lite.

Indeed, welcome to Stealth Escorts Online. 😞

Yup. Blows my mind someone thought this was a good idea.

Absolutely you agree, in general I dma they need to return all the modes from the first game and just give us the opportunity to choose which we want to play and which not, I generally think that the whole matchmaking is terrible, we must first see which race the enemy has chosen and which mode from this build our fleet. Plus they worsened the graphics about which I also wrote in another topic on the forum and in steam. and yes, if 80 percent of the company we have one mode between which we have story missions, this is not fun. And they offer 100 hours company , it can be 100 hours of boredom

I haven't played the game, but from watching streams this really doesn't seem like the type of fun i want. especially in the campaign because then it is just the AI annoying you and promoting auto resolve.

iono about return all the modes from the first there were quite a few we could do without.. im looking at you planetary assault. but ya everything take and hold just makes the game tedious add in the fact that they are expecting you to micro 20+ ships towards the end of the campaigns im gonna say its bad news bears time around here.

planetary assault
It can be corrected, for example, so that it works, so that you stand for some time, for example, a minute and a half and not just Eldar reached the first one, while making the mission area larger and if there are more enemy ships in it, then you cannot bomb for example, a ship that conducts a bombardment cannot do anything else, although the devil's Elves would already suffer because they cannot stand still, but they could reduce their time, well, that is, you can think of something in this regard, for the convoy would take big ships, only escort and light cruisers; well, maybe standard cruisers and max 1 for an attempt on the admiral
, for the attempt on the admiral, too, some chips and not just a warp out, the breakthrough and the siege of the station needed to be simply balanced by the points of the attacker and the defender and race.
In general, I have a balance so that I can use any race and will win the same thing about weapons on the ship with reservations on feature race their strengths and weaknesses not just one meta game type. Well as necrons in the first beta you could only star pulse
and most of all, there was no other way to win, and it should be, with an equal level of players
And I'm sorry my English is not very good, but I think the idea is clear

@nikof135 honestly there really isnt anything you could do to make planetary assault fair and in its defense it was based off the table top games mode that was designed to be unfair. the escort mode and assassination modes would probably be impractical due to the sheer size of the fleets, the escort mode would have to increase the amount of escort ships you started with by a significant margin over the first game to reflect the new fleet sizes and of course assassination would suffer heavily from just having 20 ships bearing down on your one ship. but they could have came up with new modes or salvaged other modes from table top like the gated reinforcements one or something along those lines. the ones you could certainly keep tho would be the defense platforms, space stations, and cruiser clash. Maybe keep a take and hold variant where it doesnt give you victory points but instead buffs your standing forces while it is held.

Agreed although the mode adds alot more ''tactical depth'' lets say i do find after utterly destorying someones fleet if have afew escort ships are left over most people rather than giving up will go around the map gathering objective points and you have no hope of stopping them if all you have left is heavy ships. Many a time i have been cheesed out of victory by this ''tactic'' its not fun.

Put all that stuff back in for singleplayer then. I don't care if I'm playing Eldar and I end up in Protect the Data, just as I don't care if I end up with Necrons trying to do a Convey mission. More stuff is better. Worst-case-scenario, I just won't try to play with modes I personally dislike more than normal.

We definitely need variety though. I only played three hours last night, and was already burned out from the Imperial campaign.

@romeo i was talking about single player, MP should stay take and hold or cruiser clash for balance sake but SP should have all the ones i mentioned. i was saying bring every thing back except for assassination, escort, and planetary assault because they would either not work well with the new fleet sizes or were just horrible to have to play in the first one. It looks like the folded steal the data into the regular missions randomly in the campaign so probably dont need that one.

Oh, disagree with Assassination big time then. Not only was that my favourite game mode, it'd slot in perfectly with both the giant "super units" in this game (Imagine trying to assassinate the Phalanx), but also the normal leaders, who are the only special ships now anyways.

Escort and Planetary Assault sucked though, agree with you there.

@romeo i didnt figure ships like the phalanx in ya i could see how that would work but it really wouldnt work if your flagship was a random BS.

@valrak I would advise putting this thread in the tech feedback, as all the other balancing stuff (especially about the necrons) we generated 100 or so pages about was ignored in the general forum.

But yeah when I played the intro mission I was like "Yey not capture" and then everything was capture because when you are fighting to retake cadia small circles in space are abbaddons true weakness.

@valrak For Multiplayer i'm afraid it's needed. At first i fucking detested cap points. Now that i've had the time to get used to them i actually quite enjoy it. They allow you to win against heavier fleets and do a decent job of preventing kiting .At most they could do with the tick rate slowing down slightly, so the big battles always have enough time to play out first.

I like the capture and hold mechanic as it forces you out of deathballing and/or camping most of the games. Ultimately it seems pretty balanced to me and it adds an important layer of strategy to the matches.

In multi/custom is just a flat out positive thing in my opinion (and you can also turn it off), while in the campaign it would be probably better for it to be an optional setting. Even though I don't mind it.

I also liked the concept of the old missions, but the actual in battle experience was very random and pretty poor in the end, especially for slower fleets.

EDT: Going forward we know that to break the rhythm we are going to have scripted missions and even get to use the Gloriana class battleship as well as likely something similar with the world engines necron and tyranids old ones.
