You really need to change this for campaign

The fact that you HAVE to delete your ship when you change your fleet composition . With how tight the point are you really need to change this cause deleting your lvl 4 cruiser cause you don't have enough room and with just a right clic ... BAD

@gahnos

God (Emperor), agree with this so much. On the Necron campaign I had a bunch of fairly well leveled Escorts... That all got deleted so I could squeeze in another Light Cruiser, rather than transfer all the Escorts to a different fleet.

I had another problem in the necron campaign...the cruiser is very expensive and I wanted to change khopesh+escorts to cruiser+escorts. Fits into max fleet capacity, but I can't do it because khopesh+cruiser are more points than the maximum amount and you can't promote an escort to flagship to do the triangle switch.

The whole fleet UI and functionality lacks in several other aspects making it much more complicated than it really is. First you got the "ship buy screen", then you have the tab on the left with all the ships and then you get a whole new interface when you click on a ship where you can do lots of stuff including. I spent some time with all the campaign stuff and am now very familiar with most of the stuff and I don't mind complexity but this isn't really mainstream-capable in terms of usability.

Having a dedicated "change/upgrade" Flag Ship option would be a first step to address some of these issues.

The solution is really simple but require thinking a bit ahead . Rather than focusing on the fleet you focus on vessel .
You build vessel that goes into a stockpile that you can then use to build fleet if they are at a port AND you can transfer back to this stockpile any vessel that doesn't have any more use in your fleet .
This game strategic gameplay mechanics (and some other) are so dumb it almost make me want to refund. For real if you have that much trouble comming up with a decent solution just ask the community who would be more than happy to help you .

There is a change/upgrade flagship option you buy the better ship for your fleet, look at it in the Fleet viewer and click the chevrons on the left and this moves your admiral across to the bigger ship. Voskamp, who started on a dauntless is now on a grand cruiser.

You can send multiple fleets to a battle and can set the order they appear in battle by moving the admiral portrait above or below the one next.

If an escort turns up and you don't want it, warp it out and providing it fits within your fleet cap a larger ship from the reinforcing fleet will arrive.

@mystic_taboo Their problem is, they can't fit in another big ship to transfer the admiral to. They would have to switch the admirals ship directly in the shipyard screen, and that is not implemented. Hopefully, yet.

Well that if you are sure just warping out this escort will do it . Cause if you warp out an escort and hey to bad you need one more point to have another ship comming ...

also, you might need an escort later during the battle, if you disengage, it won't come back
they should just implement drag/drop ship order in a fleet, or at least in a battle, not just which fleet comes first, but which ships; the last ones are always under level

personally i think you should get the choice to actually delete [aka scuttle] a ship and get some of the money back, OR, "store" it at a shipyard [aka mothball it] and it goes into a universal pool that you can withdraw it from at a later date if wanted. Its so annoying to get rid of a level 4 ship to change fleet composition/upgrade a class etc when you invested so much time and effort into it. Also then when you get jumped by a 2000 point tyranid invasion in a spot your not prepared you can call them back into service and/or use them to reinforce a damaged fleet etc etc. Maybe to balance it out it costs 25% of the full cost to bring them back. [like how you get 25% money back if you delete it]

Tyranids cant do this. 😞 (In regard to Disengaging ships from the battle to bring in more "Optimal" ship preferences)
