Hello, I was wondering, why am I capturing empty space ?
I know missions like escort or data capture could be frustrating for many people, but they made sense as they helped your war effort. Please add something (can be purely cosmetic to avoid balance issues) to capture like space stations, navigation/communication beacons (satellites?), ancient ship wrecks, ship lanes, asteroids with precious minerals. I think resource gathering competition makes more sense than accumulating imaginary points.
I liked mission variety in first game and I believe they shouldn't be removed. I'm a single player person, but I understand why You removed them from ranked games. Still, the option to play them in custom unranked games could remain. As for campaing, special missions are a must. High Lords of Terra put a bounty on enemy flagship ? Assassinate it. Protect transport ships or suffer penalty in a system. Steal data to get info on enemy planetary defences etc. There is no need to remove point capture, just make it one of availible objectives.
You strive for victory. That is obvious. What may be less obvious is the nature of victory. There are circumstances in which you can destroy the enemy utterly, without loss to your own forces, and yet the victory may be his. In all situations, you must first decide on the nature of victory, and then take steps to secure it. Avoid the instinct of fight first and think later.
