So this bug, which happens with all Unreal Engine games, isn't recognized by anyone else here?

A crash has been happening to me for nearly a month, every time I start up the game. I tried different Nvidia drivers, uninstalling/ reinstalling the game, verifying files in steam..nothing has solved the problem.

i7- 7700k liquid cooled
32 GB RAM
GTX 1080
SSD for games

The game crashes most of the time at the main menu. I can sometimes get into a game but the crash always happens the same way, regardless of map or mode: screen flicker to blacked out screen with game volume playing, no mouse or keyboard control.
I can't even use the mouse to move around in any other app or program until the UE4 engine crashes and I get the following message.
