Request regarding female admirals.

It's cool that you took the feedback from the first game and added one as a character at least, but there are 2 things that I would still like.

  1. the ability to recruit some of them. They could appear randomly at like a 15-25% rate and don't need to be special characters.
  2. If they are going to only put one female character in the game, make her not completely incompetent. Now I'm not saying you can't make a female character incompetent, but only have one female Admiral, and making her the incompetent one...well that's just being s*#tty.

It's not like it would have been hard to have the VA that did the female character do some generic female admiral lines as well.

I think this is a fair request for campaign. It would obviously only apply to Imperial fleets, not Ad Mech or SM.

Ad Mech can definitely have female admirals. Though I agree sm definitely can not. Of course I'm sure some enterprising artist could whip some up.

However, in such a game, gender means nothing to the mechanics.

@ashantai A magos seems just as likely to be male as female. The excellent Mechanicus game that came out recently is extremely lore-accurate (because it was written by the WH40K author Ben Counter IIRC) and has several female magos characters. There are also some important female mechanicus characters in the Horus Heresy novels. This game:

But honestly when you're talking about Mechanicus, it can be really hard to tell, or even perhaps totally physically irrelevant what their gender is, given how heavily cybernetically modified they might be.

@lord-styxx I was honestly just talking about the Imperial Navy simply because that would be the easiest, but it is true that the Mechanicus could as well. Obviously the Space Marines cannot.

I suspect the reason @Ashantai suggested Imps-only is because there's already a voice-actress for them, whereas they'd have to hire new ones for the AdMech.

@romeo I mean, not really since all the admech voices are modulated, I wouldn't be suprised of all the male voices in the game are done by 2-3 people with voice modulation for chaos, eldar, and admech. I'm pretty sure Catalia is the same VA as the narrator.

how was she incompetent?
she seemed pragmatic and brave in the nid campaign?
its the dude in that mission that seemed to really fear getting eaten, and she was able to put him in his place without any bullets
seems better then average for a 40k commander

maybe the story is different in the IN campaign, but if she didnt need help then spire wouldnt have a mission

@ashardalon I've seen a lot of people view her as incompetent based on the fact that she:

  1. Attacked the Vengeful Spirit with her battlegroup made up of 1 cruiser and a hand full of light cruisers, arguing that she instead could have not done that, and been able to intercept the chaos ships that pushed the blackstone into Cadia, basically blaming the destruction of Cadia on her....and the way the devs crafted the cinematic, it's hard to argue against that.

  2. Attacked an Eldar Craftworld with a light cruiser and a bunch of frigates.

Thus far in my IN campaign they still have yet to explain WHY she attacked a Craftworld, but it looks like it was just a plot device to show why you fight the Eldar after the events of the first game.

Those 2 cases are her only appearances in the IN campaign, and since the Nid campaign is not canon, she seems to have just been a throwaway character.

pretty sure there are two then

besides, silver dawn was following orders
a bit too eager and gloryhunting, but duty is duty even if you want to do it
if she had not done what she did she would have been a traitor and heretic, so thats a pretty shit argument of those people
better to blame the imperial fists for giving bad support, or claiming they could give support with a ship like a phalanx which is not a good support ship

ps none of the campaigns are cannon

Mechanicus male and female doesn't matter, its all metal anyway and they wear robes.

SM: Girly marines would trigger the manosphere, but if they were made super pretty it would trigger sjws too.

IN: There are admiral portraits for you, but for the ships they would need another VA to do them, and than they would need to match the voice to the portrait, or you would get male admirals with female voicelines or female ones with male voicelines if it was just randomised.

Though tumblr would like that...

Though you can't blame that admiral girl for that, its not like Glorianas are common so she had no idea what one could do.

Pluis Girlyman's waifu is the eldar boss and she trolls you real hard.
