Jellyfoosh, the latest patch notes for 2019-03-21 leave out two major changes

Jellyfoosh, the patch notes leave out two major changes to gameplay:

  • It appears almost all Escorts and Light Cruisers now have only two abilities charges instead of three. This means, for example, the Imperial Dauntless Mk2 Light Cruiser can only launch two salvos of each torpedo-type instead of three. I don't know if this is true for all faction's Escort and Light Cruiser classes.

  • Launch bays now only start their cool-down after the launched craft are destroyed or returned back to the ship. This significantly slows down the amount of ordnance craft that can be fielded during a match.

Do the developers have any explanation why these two major changes were made, and also left out of the patch notes? Please let the developers know these are very significant changes to the current gameplay meta, for both Multiplayer and the Campaigns, and they risk alienating their existing customers if a sound explanation is not given.

Also, Jellyfoosh, the deployment area in the Campaign is broken: one can no longer place ships where-ever they want in the Deployment Zone. Respectfully this patch was not tested very well. They need to spend a few more days testing very basic scenarios and then prepare a new patch to fix the new defects.

They have already alienated me.
Who the heck is responsible for such stupid changes? Carriers were piss poor compared to the first game, and what I loved about this one, was that you could launch multiple squadrons. That made carriers at least fairly versatile and gave you that feel of an operating carrier, with several squadrons constantly flying off/returning from the mission.

But now they had to go and f..k even this up.

I've stopped playing the first game after they implemented that stupid rework of how fighter squadrons work, breaking their visual behaviour as well in the process. It was too eye-sore for me.

And now congratulations, because I need space to reinstall Rome 2 TW and Inquisitor Martyr. Guess which game got just uninstalled from my disc. I will return once Tindalos sorts their sh.t out and people who ride the Necron D are removed from rebalancing duty.

Hi @chamber01 , thanks for pointing this out, it wasn't in the notes, but it has now been added as the first two points under the Battle/Balancing heading: https://steamcommunity.com/games/573100/announcements/detail/1814295005547042441

We are aware of the deployment bug, it is being worked on right now.

Have a great day! 🙂

@jellyfoosh
How about they work on something more vital, like:
removing this ridiculously stupid launch bay nerf, and making them ACTUALLY VIABLE while they're at it?
Oh well, who am I kidding. Macros and Necrons. Everything else can suck in this game.

Mind you, I am not trying to insult you. But I'd like you to realize how incredibly pissed I, as well as everyone else, am right now at this atrocity of a "balance".

If this wasn't on a bloody Steam I would never even attempt to install this so called "patch".

Edit:
By the way, if the balance team is too thickheaded to make appropriate balance changes then they can go to hell, the community now has mods for single player at the very least. But may they AT LEAST not introduce such horrible mechanics like this launch bay thing, as I'm not sure we can cope with it via modding.

Jellyfish, thanks for updating the patch notes. Just FYI, on your description for the Skill Charge changes, to be more thorough the Escorts should also be included as being impacted just like the Light Cruisers. Also I suspect the charge reduction is not consistent for all races.

Not leaving a complete list of the skill charge changes will lead to confusion by some players who read that and don't understand why the particular faction's ship they observe is an exception. But perhaps your Developers don't care about that level of explanatory detail. That's troublesome when it comes to concepts of "polish" and being thorough, but perhaps that's just the way it is.
