Here are the instructions to follow if you encounter any technical issues in-game.
Before creating new topics, please read this FAQ and try the workarounds!

CHECK THAT WORLD WAR Z IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED

  1. Run the Epic Games Launcher and click Library.
  2. Click the cog icon.
  3. Check if Auto update is enabled and click Verify.

UPDATE WINDOWS 10

  1. Click the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Click Update & Security.
  3. Click on the Check for updates button from Windows Update.

INSTALL OR REPAIR MICROSOFT DIRECTX

  1. Click https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
  2. Select your language and click Download button.
  3. Uncheck all under Microsoft recommends.
  4. Click No thanks and continue DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer button.
  5. Save and run directx_Jun2010_redist.exe application.
  6. Click Yes then enter the path: C:\TMP
  7. Click OK then Yes.
  8. This will extract the installation files into the TMP folder located in the Local Disk (C:).
  9. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
  10. Open the Local Disk (C:) then the TMP folder.
  11. Run DXSETUP.exe application.

UPDATE THE DISPLAY DRIVER

AMD display device http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
NVIDIA display device http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

UPDATE THE AUDIO DRIVER

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Device Manager.
  2. Open Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right click on the default audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) > Update driver.

HOW TO USE THE APPLICATION TROUBLESHOOTER FOR WORLD WAR Z

  1. Open the Epic Games folder.
  2. Navigate to WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc.
  3. Right click on the wwzRetailEgs.exe application > Troubleshoot compatibility.
  4. Select Try recommended settings.

RUN WORLD WAR Z IN ADMINISTRATOR MODE AT STARTUP

  1. Open the Epic Games folder.
  2. Navigate to WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc.
  3. Right click on the wwzRetailEgs.exe application > Properties.
  4. Click the Compatibility tab.
  5. Check Run this program as an administrator and click OK.

LAPTOP WITH TWO DISPLAY DEVICES (INTEL + AMD)

Your laptop computer has two display devices (INTEL and AMD).
The INTEL display device could be the primary display device.

Please assign the World War Z application (wwzRetailEgs.exe file) to the AMD display device https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-017
Navigate to Epic Games > WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc and select the wwzRetailEgs.exe application.

LAPTOP WITH TWO DISPLAY DEVICES (INTEL + NVIDIA)

Your laptop computer has two display devices (INTEL and NVIDIA).
The INTEL display device could be the primary display device.

Please assign the World War Z application (wwzRetailEgs.exe file) to the NVIDIA display device:

  1. Right click on the background of the Windows Desktop and click NVIDIA Control Panel.
  2. Click on Manage 3D settings under 3D Settings from Select a Task....
  3. Click on the Program Settings tab under I would like to use the following 3D settings:.
  4. Click on the Add button under 1. Select a program to customize:.
  5. Navigate to Epic Games > WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc
  6. Select the wwzRetailEgs.exe application and click on the Open button.
  7. Select High-performance NVIDIA processor under 2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:.
  8. Click on the Apply button (bottom right) then close the NVIDIA Control Panel.

WORLD WAR Z CRASHING ON WINDOWS 10 INSIDER PREVIEW BUILD

World War Z may not be fully compatible with the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview Build version.
Please note that the Windows 10 Insider Builds can be buggy and include unfinished features.

Please opt-out of the Windows Insider Program:

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Click on Update & Security.
  3. Click on Windows Insider Program.
  4. Click on the Stop Insider Preview builds button.

WORLD WAR Z CRASHING WITH MSI AFTERBURNER

  1. Open RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS).
  2. Click Add button (bottom left).
  3. Navigate to Epic Games > WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc.
  4. Add the wwzRetailEgs.exe application under Application profile properties.
  5. Set Application detection level to None for the game application.
  6. Close RivaTuner Statistics Server.

STARTUP ERROR 0XC00007B

A. Please update or repair Microsoft DirectX:

  1. Click https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
  2. Select your language and click Download button.
  3. Uncheck all under Microsoft recommends.
  4. Click No thanks and continue DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer button.
  5. Save and run directx_Jun2010_redist.exe application.
  6. Click Yes then enter the path: C:\TMP
  7. Click OK then Yes.
  8. This will extract the installation files into the TMP folder located in the Local Disk (C:).
  9. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
  10. Open the Local Disk (C:) then the TMP folder.
  11. Run DXSETUP.exe application.

B. Please configure World War Z in administrator mode at startup:

  1. Open the Epic Games folder.
  2. Navigate to WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc.
  3. Right click on the wwzRetailEgs.exe application > Properties.
  4. Click the Compatibility tab.
  5. Check Run this program as an administrator and click OK.

AUDIO ISSUES

The 5.1 and 7.1 surround audio modes may not be fully supported in World War Z.
Please set your headset in 2.0 (Stereo) audio mode from the headset control panel.

If there is no control panel for the headset:

  1. Right click on the Speaker icon from the task bar.
  2. Click on Open Sound Settings.
  3. Click Device properties for the output device.
  4. Click on the Spatial sound tab.
  5. Select Off under Spatial sound format.
  6. Uncheck Turn on 7.1 virtual surround sound and click OK.

HOW TO ADD WORLD WAR Z TO WINDOWS FIREWALL

If World War Z cannot connect to the server, please check that the game application has been added in Windows Firewall.

Otherwise, please add World War Z to Windows Firewall:

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Click Network & Internet.
  3. Click Windows Firewall > Allow an app through firewall.
  4. Click Change settings button.
  5. Click Allow another app button.
  6. Click Browse button.
  7. Navigate to Epic Games > WorldWarZ > en_us > client > bin > pc.
  8. Select the wwzRetailEgs.exe application and click Open.
  9. Click Network types button, check Private and Public then click OK.
  10. Click Add button.

HOW TO BACKUP THE SAVE FOLDER

To be safe, please backup a copy of everything in your save folder in a different location:

  1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
  2. Open the Local Disk (C:).
  3. Open the Users folder then your Windows username folder.
  4. Navigate to AppData (*) > Local > Saber > WWZ > client > storage.

(*) AppData is a hidden folder by default. To view this folder:

WINDOWS 7

  • Open Windows Explorer from the taskbar.
  • Click Organize > Folder and search options.
  • Click View tab and check Show hidden files, folders and drives under Hidden files and folders from Advanced Settings.
  • Click OK.

WINDOWS 8/10

  • Open File Explorer from the taskbar.
  • Click View tab and check Hidden items.

BLACK SCREEN

If you encounter constant black screens and disconnects after matchmaking when loading in the game, you need to make sure that following ports are open:

  • TCP: 11700 - 11710
  • UDP: 48800 – 49000

None of this allowed me to invite, see my friends, or join my friends on PC. I can't even play the game with my friends period. Feel in the dark and forgotten at this point.

Then having "work arounds" instead of patching, leaves me very weary of your intentions.

So the problem no matter what I try/do is this server disconnecting every single game. Saw a post from April 16 saying you guys were working on a fix. Is there anything that I can do or are we waiting for a patch of some sort?

None of these work! This is totally unacceptable for a user to have to try all of these things! Fix the damn game and admit that your management are a bunch of money hungry idiots who rushed the game to market? What is your CEO's contact information?
