DOWNLOAD/INSTALLATION ISSUES

CANNOT DOWNLOAD GREEDFALL FROM STEAM

  1. Run Steam and click Steam (upper left) > Settings > Downloads.
  2. Click on the CLEAR DOWNLOAD CACHE button and click OK.
  3. Steam will restart automatically.

NOTE: This process will not affect your currently installed games, but you will need to log into Steam afterwards.

THE ADVENTURER’S GEAR DLC PRE-ORDER BONUS IS MISSING

  1. Run Steam and click Steam (upper left) > Settings > Downloads.
  2. Click on the CLEAR DOWNLOAD CACHE button and click OK.
  3. Steam will restart automatically.
  4. Right click on GreedFall > Properties.
  5. Click the LOCAL FILES tab and click on the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button.

THE CONTENT APPEARS AFTER TALKING TO YOUR MOTHER.

CHOOSING THE GAME LANGUAGE

At the first game startup, the default language is the one selected under the LANGUAGE tab from Steam:
From LIBRARY, right click on GreedFall > Properties > LANGUAGE.

NOTE: If GreedFall is in Russian or in Chinese only.
There is no other language available if GreedFall has not been purchased on Steam but from a Russian or a Chinese retailer (dedicated market).

GREEDFALL NOT LAUNCHING

CHECK THAT GREEDFALL IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED

  1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
  2. Right click on GreedFall > Properties.
  3. Click the LOCAL FILES tab and click on the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button.

REPAIR MICROSOFT DIRECTX

Please repair Microsoft DirectX with DirectX End-User Runtimes application:

  1. Navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > Steamworks Shared > _CommonRedist > DirectX > Jun2010.
  2. Run the DXSETUP.exe application.

If Microsoft DirectX is corrupted and cannot be repaired with DirectX End-User Runtimes application:

WINDOWS 10 INSIDER PREVIEW BUILD

GreedFall may not be fully compatible with the latest Windows 10 Insider Preview Build version.
Please note that the Windows 10 Insider Builds can be buggy and include unfinished features.

Please opt-out of the Windows Insider Program:

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Click on Update & Security.
  3. Click on Windows Insider Program.
  4. Click on the Stop Insider Preview builds button.

THERE ARE TWO SOLUTIONS FOR THIS ISSUE:

A. Run GreedFall in administrator mode:

  1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
  2. Right click on GreedFall > Properties.
  3. Click the LOCAL FILES tab and click on the BROWSE LOCAL FILES button.
  4. Right click on GreedFall.exe application > Properties.
  5. Click the Compatibility tab.
  6. Check Run this program as an administrator and click OK.

B. Exclude the GreedFall.exe application from the antivirus (F-Secure, Kaspersky, etc.).
To find the GreedFall.exe application, please navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > GreedFall.

For Windows 10 N 64-bit and Windows 10 KN 64-bit edition, please install Microsoft Media Feature Pack:

BLACK SCREEN

  1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
  2. Right click on GreedFall > Properties.

  5. Click the Compatibility tab.
  6. Check Disable fullscreen optimizations and click OK.

K-LITE CODEC PACK

If K-Lite Codec Pack is installed:

  1. Open K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool.
  2. Click on Media Foundation button under Win7DSFilterTweaker.
  3. Uncheck all and click on Apply & Close button.
  4. Click on MS Codec Tweaks button under Win7DSFilterTweaker.
  5. Uncheck all and click on Apply & Close button.
  6. Close K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool.

MSI AFTERBURNER

  1. Open RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS).
  2. Click Add button (bottom left).
  3. Navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > GreedFall.
  4. Add GreedFall.exe application under Application profile properties.
  5. Set Application detection level to None for the game application.
  6. Close RivaTuner Statistics Server.

CLOSING BACKGROUND APPLICATIONS

Third-party applications running in the background can interfere with GreedFall.
Please disable temporarily these applications and search which application is interfering with the game.

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Task Manager.
  2. Click on the Startup tab (click on More details to display the tabs).

GAME CONTROLLER NOT DETECTED

REGISTERING THE GAME CONTROLLER TO THE STEAM ACCOUNT

  1. Run Steam.
  2. Click on Steam (upper left) > Settings > Controller.
  3. Click on the GENERAL CONTROLLER SETTINGS button.
  4. Click on the game controller under Detected Controllers.
  5. Click on the REGISTER button (upper right).
  6. Click on the Register to this account button.
  7. Personnalize the game controller and click Submit.

The game controller is now registered to the Steam account.
Run GreedFall.

IF THE GAME CONTROLLER IS STILL NOT DECTECTED:

Please unplug all USB devices except the keyboard, the mouse and the game controller.
Restart the computer and run GreedFall.

GAME NOT SAVING

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Security.
  3. Click on Virus & threat protection.
  4. Click on Manage settings under Virus & threat protection settings.
  5. Click on Add or remove exclusions under Exclusions.
  6. Click on Add an exclusion > File.
  7. Navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > GreedFall.
  8. Select GreedFall.exe application and click on the Open button.
  9. Close Windows Security and run GreedFall.

If Windows Security is not the default antivirus, please exclude the GreedFall.exe application from your antivirus.
To find the GreedFall.exe application, please navigate to Steam > steamapps > common > GreedFall.

AUDIO ISSUES

UPDATE THE AUDIO DRIVER

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Device Manager.
  2. Open Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right click on the default audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) > Update driver.

NO VOICES OR VOLUME ISSUE DURING DIALOGUES

A. Some audio issues have appeared on various games since the Windows Update KB4515384 (September 10) for Windows 10 1903:

  1. Right click on Speakers icon from ther task bar (bottom right) > Open Sound settings > Sound Control Panel.
  2. Right click on Speakers (default device) under the Playback tab > Properties.
  3. Click on the Enhancements tab.
  4. Check all enhancements from the list (all enhancements must be enabled) and click Apply (bottom right).
  5. Uncheck all enhancements (all enhancements must be disabled) and click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Run GreedFall.

If there are still audio issues:

  1. Right click on Speakers icon from ther task bar (bottom right) > Open Sound settings > Sound Control Panel.
  2. Right click on Speakers (default device) under the Playback tab > Properties.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab.
  4. Set Default Format to 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) and click Apply.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Run GreedFall.

Otherwise, please uninstall the Windows Update KB4515384 until the issue is resolved by Microsoft:

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Settings.
  2. Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.

B. Please check that GreedFall is correctly installed:

  1. Run Steam and click LIBRARY.
  2. Right click on GreedFall > Properties.
  3. Click the LOCAL FILES tab and click on the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button.

C. Please turn off 7.1 virtual surround sound:

  1. Right click on the Speaker icon from the task bar.
  2. Click on Open Sound Settings.
  3. Click Device properties for the output device.
  4. Click on the Spatial sound tab.
  5. Select Off under Spatial sound format.
  6. Uncheck Turn on 7.1 virtual surround sound and click OK.

D. GreedFall may not be fully 5.1 and 7.1 Surround compatible. Please set your sound device in Stereo mode.

E. If Nahimic application (www.nahimic.com/gamers) is installed, please uninstall it.

STUTTERING ISSUES

KEYBOARD WITH ONBOARD MEMORY

A gaming keyboard with onboard memory can interfere with GreedFall creating movement controls issues.
Please check the keyboard settings or reset the keyboard to factory default settings.

NVIDIA SLI/AMD CROSSFIRE

NVIDIA SLI: For any flickering issue in Force alternate frame rendering 2 mode, please set it to 1.
NOTE: There is no real performance gain in SLI mode.
AMD CROSSFIRE: Not supported. Please turn it off if the game does not start.

AMD EYEFINITY/NVIDIA SURROUND/ULTRAWIDE SUPPORT

  • GreedFall is AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround compatible.
  • Ultrawide formats like 21:9 aspect ratio are supported.
  • The Field of view can be adjusted from the game options.
  • Cinematics are in 16:9 aspect ratio with black stripes on the sides.

SAVE GAMES/CONFIGURATION FILE LOCATION

  1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
  2. Navigate to Documents > GreedFall.
  • The save game file format is .fsav (autosave.fsav and save_date_time.fsav files).
  • Some graphics settings (display mode, display resolution, refresh rate, vertical sync...) are located in the graphicconfig.txt file.
  • Other settings are located in the default.profile64 file but a hex editor is required.

KNOWN ISSUES

  • Depth of Field: When reloading a previously made save, the background may get blurry:
    WORKAROUND: Pause and unpause the game.

  • A crash can occur when leaving the game window by pressing the ALT+TAB keys.

  • Flashing lights can appear when watching water puddles on a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M graphics card.

  • Very rare chance of mouse focus being lost during dialogs:
    WORKAROUND: Use the arrow keys with the ENTER keys or play with a game controller.

  • When rendering the game in 4K (3840x2160), switching to Borderless window from Full screen display mode with Vsync disabled may cause choppy framerate:
    WORKAROUND 1: Play in Windowed mode.
    WORKAROUND 2: Restart the computer.

GREEDFALL STILL NOT WORKING

A. Generate a System Information report:

  1. Right click on the Windows Start button > Run.
  2. Type: MSINFO32
  3. Click OK.
  4. Click on System Summary (upper left).
  5. Click on File > Export.
  6. Click on Desktop (left column).
  7. Choose a file name and click on the Save button.
  8. Close System Information.
  9. Right click on the System Information report file located on the Desktop > Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder.

B. Send the System Information report (compressed ZIP file) in attachment with a description of the problem to support@focus-home.com

FOUND A BUG IN-GAME

Please provide your save game (save_date_time.fsav file) for the GreedFall Quality Assurance team:

  1. Open Windows Explorer or File Explorer from the taskbar.
  2. Navigate to Documents > GreedFall.
