Not sure how to remove the controls panel but I agree it kills a nicely detailed interior, plus I NEVER look at that panel anyway.

All you have to do is find the installation folder for the mod (they're all just numbers, in the Steam workshop folder), then extract the xml file for the truck from the zip file, remove the ControlsPos line, and then copy the xml file back into the zip. I make a lot of tweaks like that for probably most of the mods I have. Just be sure to save a copy of your version since you'll lose the changes every time the mod creator decides to update the mod.

That picture does look a lot better.

It's strange though, the paint line still looks iffy going across the hood, but along the rest of the truck it looks perfectly clear, think it's a oversight on the creators part?

Probably, everything else is dead sexy on it. Maybe screen shots just don't do it justice.

Still though you said that truck was supposed to be silver right?

I'll be honest, it's a nice truck but that doesn't look like silver to me. Honest to god I swear that looks like snow white in these pictures. lol

Showing the proper way to use the skidder. I'll voluntarily admit that I didn't know that until today (when I saw a YouTube video of the real thing in action). I always tried to grab the logs by the middle, and sometimes I even tried to load a truck with them which is a pain with that short crane. Well that's not what the skidder is for. It's actually meant for dragging logs to another loading point.

I knew a Skidder wasn't used for loading, however I to always grab logs by the middle. I've spawned into more then one online session of Mount Logmore or Grizzy Creek that only spawned me Bison's (which don't have cranes) and scout vehicles. So I've used the Skidder for loading.

You can load short logs quite easier, have you logs grabbed by the middle, lifted up and pointing straight. All you gotta do is reverse into the back of the truck, drop logs, done. Easy.

Now loading longs with the Skidder is a chore since those logs are so cumbersome, but I've pulled it off.

Now loading medium logs, oh buddy now that's something to do with a Skidder. The medium log trailer has a gate in the back so your only opening is the top which the Skidder can't reach. That said I have loaded a medium load with a Skidder. What I did was unhook the trailer from it's truck, tip it over on it's side, use the Skidder to position the logs inside the trailer (which is more of a chore then you might think), then winch the trailer back onto it's wheels, reconnect to the truck, and pack the logs.

Oh buddy I got tricks for these American Wilds maps. Sometime the Russian maps can screw me if they don't give me a crane or a K-700, but every American map is gonna have a Skidder, and if it comes down to it then a Skidder and a Bison is all I need. Game can't screw me that easily on these American maps. lol

@justinlynch3
I've loaded a truck using the skidder, using the same technique you mentioned, the one where you back up the truck or trailer under the logs, then lower the logs. I do remember you mentioning the other method where you tip over the trailer. That's a good trick, but I haven't needed to do that. Even on this map where the I took the screenshot (a Russian-style mod map) I used the Skidder voluntarily, just for fun. I had another vehicle with a proper crane. It seems that every map I play has at least one vehicle with a proper crane or a K-700 so it's a non-issue for me (in single-player) .

Now as far as whether you grab the logs by the middle or the ends, in this game it doesn't really matter, since logs banging against the vehicle do no damage, but in real life they drag the logs by the ends probably to avoid that kind of damage, and it's easier to navigate narrow paths that way.

Yea here's the old video of it.
Youtube Video

Luckily I've actually only ever needed to do this once,

@justinlynch3
Aren't you glad you didn't have to use that method to fill the entire trailer log by log (if there was no packing feature)? I'm sure this was painful enough. What are those ghost vehicles, some other players who quit or lost connection?

The black ghost vehicles are vehicles owned by other players. The reason they are ghost is because the owner is currently operating a different vehicle.

I guess the dev's thought that since in a online map that players could potentially park anywhere, to insure abandoned vehicles aren't in other players way, they would ghost whatever vehicles wasn't in use.

So take the guy that was watching me for a while, he could see my Skidder because that's the vehicle I had in use. However to him, my Bison and trailer was both in ghost mode. So buddy was basically watching me back into shadows and probably wondering "what the f is this guy doing?" lol

Very nice stuff

One of my favorite "little" trucks in MR. It's a mod from the workshop with my own tweaks to specs and sounds (the original is too heavy, too powerful, the tires are too stiff and the engine is too loud but it's a really nice model).
