Is it possible for players that bought this game on GOG to play against players that bought it on Steam? If so, I can't figure out how to connect with a friend on mine that is on Steam with me being on GOG.

Supposedly it is now, specifically thanks to the retarded last patch that removed the ability to turn off EAC, and did nothing else.
