the Badlands Alpha - Ready for testing: Custom Rocks, Rock Crawling, 4x4 Trails and Bonus Rally Track

@Digital-X Goddammit. I was trying to not get all pissed off at them right now. So much for that idea...😩

I dunno what to try now.

Just says It cant load the terrain .STG file.

Yes both updated.

They changed the way you do it now. See page 34 of the guide.

Just let it create the .STG file again. It'll work.

@PiX3LMonkey sorry for hijacking your thread. It happens... 😞

Still gonna get you those screenshots I promised too.

Ok. Back on topic...

They're everywhere. There's not too many places on the map that if I stop and pan the camera around I can't find one. It would take me all day to get screenshots of all of them. But here's a bunch.

Here's what I mean by "they seal themselves up as you get closer to them".

@joridiculous
AFAIK @MudHappy is using the "old-school" d3dx9_43.dll 4gig patch/fix.

Really? I've never had an issue with it...
Wanna check out this map, but not sure how I want to go about it while this version mess is a thing...

I WAS going to say that I dont have any of those issues, but wouldn't ya know. I went to launch tonight and it looks like my game was updated.. My version now says 18/03/06. Looks like i'm back to square one on debugging this like we were when The Valley came out. I think i'm going to need some beer.....

Oh and no worries about thread hijacking. Totally get it. So on that topic, all my stuff works just like it used to when I launch the game using the SpintiresMod mod loader. The version i have is v1.6.10. I'm guessing they have a custom compile of the 18/01/29b exe built in which is why it works. I say this because when the game loads through the modloader, it says 18/01/29b. So... i'm guessing now we wait for an updated SpintiresMod exe so we can get caught up to the current game ver. Until then I'm just going to keep using the old mod loader because it works. 🙂

SPOILER ALERT - Here are a couple screenshots of my map editor to help guide you guys to some of the more interesting parts of the map. A lot of the lower section of the map (in the second shot) are for logging. I have a TON of side paths so keep your eyes peeled for interesting offshoots.

@pix3lmonkey Hi there,

You should be able to get the map you're working on (which looks incredible, by the way) working in the new version of Spintires: MudRunner through the mod conversion tool. I know this doesn't help with the debugging, but it should allay your fears about using the new version of the game.

@mudhappy The obvious question: You tried the same places without STM running?

Good call! STM appears to be the sole cause of it. Still kinda weird that it I haven't noticed it on other maps while using STM. I wonder what's going on with that? 🤔

@mudhappy this may have to-do with the mod adjusting the height calculation, if that map is made using the mod it may render weird when not running mod, as game isn't calculating height the same way. And this may go both ways....
