Will there be mod support on consoles?

The first goal of the team at Saber was to bring the Spintires experience to consoles in a new improved version. Releasing the best possible base game was the first priority. Now the goal is to fix the last remaining technical issues and bring some of the most requested features in the game (wheel support on consoles and working mirrors in cockpit view are on the list).

We hear your requests about mods on consoles and we understand them. They won't be available in the short run on PS4 and Xbox One. But we plan to support Spintires: MudRunner in the long run and we'll develop future updates with community feedback in mind.

Is there an official Spintires: MudRunner Discord channel?

Where is Workshop Map Support?

  • We're currently working on Workshop Map Support, and plan to have it included in the game in a future update. We don't currently have a timeframe on when it will be ready.

Will Spintires: MudRunner require an online connection?

No, you won't need to be online to play the game. You'll need to activate it only once, but once done, the only time you'll need to connect is to download patches and updates.

Will there be cockpit view at release?

Yes, cockpit view will be available at release on all platforms.

Will Spintires: MudRunner have multi-USB support, for wheels, pedals and gearsticks?

  • Yes, on PC. The game supports wheels, pedals and gearsticks, even if they are seperate devices.

Will consoles be able to use wheels/pedals/gearshifts?

Will you support multiplayer saves?

  • Yes, Spintires: MudRunner will have multiplayer saves.

Will there be cross-platform play?

  • At this time, we don't plan to support cross-platform play.

What is real-time mud?

  • Muddy terrain, rivers, and other obstacles all realistically react to the weight and movement of your vehicle, thanks to the game's advanced physics engine. "Real-time mud" is the term we came up with to summarize all this!

Will existing mods work?

  • Yes, we have a separate ModConverter tool, and we plan to have this tool available at release.

Will we include PC mod support at release?

  • Yes, absolutely!

Will you be able to change time of day?

  • Yes, in Casual mode you will be able to skip night at the cost of fuel.

Will we fix the camera auto zoom?

  • Yes, we know that a lot of players are asking this, and it is something we'll be fixing for release.

Will Spintires: MudRunner have VR support?

  • No, Spintires: MudRunner will not have VR support at release.

Will lights, sound and mud be synced in multiplayer?

  • Due to technical constraints of the game engine, we don't have the ability to implement multiplayer light, sound and mud sync at this time.

Will the be first-person driver view?

  • We're currently evaluating all the options regarding camera views in Spintires: MudRunner. More information coming soon.

Will there be a map editor?

  • Yes, on PC. As we will not be supporting mods on consoles, there also will not be a map editor on consoles either.

Is this a re-release of Spintires?

  • Spintires: MudRunner is the ultimate version of Spintires. Developed not only for PC but also for the first time for PS4 and Xbox One. It's a huge upgrade over its predecessor, as this edition comes complete with "a brand new Sandbox Map joining the original game's 5 environments, a total graphical overhaul, a new Challenge mode with 9 new dedicated maps, 13 new vehicles and other comprehensive improvements." Original Spintires players on Steam will get 50% off MudRunner as a loyalty discount. More info and details coming very soon – follow us to make sure you don't miss any info.

Will there be a Nintendo Switch version?

  • No, we don't have one planned at the moment.

Can you clarify the involvement of Pavel in Spintires: MudRunner?

  • Pavel Zagrebelny, the creator of the original Spintires, is back at Saber Interactive as vision holder and lead developer on Spintires: MudRunner, and therefore, is fully involved in the project.

Focus Home (we) will be the ones publishing it, so we'll be releasing it, handling future updates (along with the dev team) and distributing it, too.

Will this game also be abandoned?

  • No. We at Focus Home Interactive have always supported our games, during and after release. We strongly believe in Spintires: MudRunner, and our objective is to produce a great game, which we intend to continue supporting with updates to enrich the game's experience even after release. We always pay great attention to community feedback, and both we and Saber will make sure that MudRunner receives attention and improvements after Day One.

What will be the recommended settings/specs?

  • The recommended settings for Spintires: MudRunner should be very similar to the original game, but may change as we get closer to release.

Will there be Linux support?

  • We don't plan on having Linux support at release, no.

Will there be Mac support?

  • We don't plan on having Mac support at release, no

Will there be vehicle customisation?

  • No. This means that you won't be able to add decals, change vehicle colours, or add rim spinners. Rest assured that you will be able to modify vehicles with log bays, trailers, and other modifications as you could in the original Spintires.

How will deliveries be handled?

  • Deliveries will work the same way that they always have.

What framerate will Spintires: MudRunner run at?

  • Locked to 30fps on consoles, locked to 60fps on PC.

Will there be a retail release or only digital?

Will there be 4k compatibility on consoles?

  • We’re in discussions to bring PS4 Pro and Xbox One X features to the game after release, but we have nothing to confirm yet.

What languages will be available?

  • At release, Spintires: MudRunner will be playable in 8 languages - English, French, German, Italian, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian and Polish.

Will there be tracked vehicles?

  • Not at release.

Will you support dedicated servers?

What are the new features, you ask?

Well - Spintires: MudRunner comes complete with a brand new Sandbox Map on top of the original game's 5 environments, a total graphical overhaul, a new Challenge mode with 9 new dedicated maps, 13 new vehicles and other comprehensive improvements.

yhea that's new !
But what I meant it's what is the "huge upgrade over its predecessor" ?
I see in the trailer, in the fluid tank the fluid move, it's look very great but nobody speek about this.

Sorry for my english i'm french

Real Time mud? Didnt Spintires ALREADY had a real time mud that reacted to weight and movement of your vehicle?
I really don't see much improvement over Spintires..

Will there be vehicle customisation?

  • No.

Could you elaborate more? Does this mean that a vehicle in game cannot have its loadbay swapped out?
Such as tanker to log carrier/ Garrage vehicle or is this refering to say, customising colour?

is there any huge-sense-solid quests? Or it will be simple mud-demo again? In a sandbox.

Just wanted to say I loved Spintires and I'm so pleased you guys are taking this on (and not, err, those other guys). All these developments are great especially, for me at least, the multiplayer save.

Given that you're working away on this, I have one request - is there a change you'd be able to add a button on gamepad for winch release (or at least the ability to assign one)? I know you need the mouse to place the winch, and that's not too bad, but often when you release the winch you want to be on the gas/brake at the same time and that's extremely difficult with the mouse and controller.

If you could make the RB/LB buttons cycle through winch points (thereby getting rid of the mouse entirely) then that would be amazing, but I realise that's a bit much more work!

Anyway, very pleased that Pavel has found an actual game developer to carry this on. Best of luck with the console ports!

I've always supported having to use the mouse to PLACE a winch point, as it sort of simulates having to actually get out of the truck and place a winch. However, I agree that it would be cool to have a button bound to drop the winch point.

This is possible now with st+,, iirc, and I use it all the time with the X key. I like being able to use a key to detach the winch. Comes in handy but doesn't work on trailers, only the main vehicle.

Why is console not getting mad support

If there is no mods for console there goes a good game

To revisit a question, with the increased size of the sandbox map, does this mean that there will be potential to make regular objective maps that are the same size in the editor? (ie 5-6 x bigger than a current map?) It seems that it should be possible if it's possible to make a sandbox map that combines all of the original maps. Having to plan the fuel and logistics for a map that huge would just be entertaining. (In addition to all the trouble you could get yourself into with a map that big.)

Just because some of these things existed as mods doesn't mean the developer didn't have to work on it themselves. As a developer you can't just take other people's work from the internet and add it to your game.

Tell that to Bethesda. Many of Fallout 3, New Vegas mods were integrated into Fallout 4

@Skiv Presumably not by just lifting the existing code and assets ofthe mods for the old games?

Console question: Will there be any DLC content that could be downloaded Such as different vehicles, maps etc? Even if I had to pay for it!
