[Architect] Current Project(s)

Quite a lot, simply brightness and contrast controls.

Whiter=Higher
Darker=Lower

@8up-local i just grabbed a GeoTiff Height Map from North India Mountain Range, and then converted it to the _height.ddl. and hand editing.

@architectwilliam it is looking good to me and i know terrain height can be a challenge at times. just was not sure how tricky it might be editing the map for trails and roads while getting a natural looking transition between the two without losing the original terrain look.

you have a natural hillside that you "cut" a path into. now the transition between the two would be a rough angle. but when you start to smooth that angle into a curved transition you either lose a bit of path or natural hillside. i had this issue a long time ago with a map i made. i did the terrain and then laid the trails. i ended up with hard angled drop offs. so i learned to give a little extra terrain to accommodate for this transition to smooth out the transition.
however, map making tools are far better, different and considerably easier to work with these days compared to then, so this may not even be an issue anymore. idk, i have not made any kind of map for a very long time. let alone one for spintires or mudrunner. only "played" around a little with the editor actually.

@8up-local do take in mind these trails are refrenced from the worlds most dangerous mountain roads.

But yea I understand

Production on Heights has been Halted due to the Lack of STM 1.7.2 being required for players to run the map.

@architectwilliam And if 1.7.2 never comes out, will you be able to do something with heights in order to continue? It would be a shame if you lost all your hard work because of this.

@fearwheels Yeah, I understand that situation, but with heights i can always convert it back to a regular spintires map.

Production on Heights has been restarted with the new update of STM 1.7.4.

Current WorkLoad for Heights

  • Custom Rock Model - Series Specific
  • Flushing out Mud and Terrain
  • Trails - Adding Complexity, Obstacles, Etc.
  • Smaller Routes - minor trails
  • Curbs for main road and pavement
  • Adding Structures around the map
  • Some Minor Bug Fixing

After some consideration I will be sharing the Custom Rock to other Map Creators after the Release of Heights

For your information this is Based off A section of mountain in Nepal

This map is looking good on the screenshots, cant wait to test it my self when it gets released👌🏽

Geez, its been Quite a bit since I updated this thread.

Well BTW 'Heights' is burning into its final stage of production so it should be out within december. I still got a lot of things to add and remove and test.

I make changes then I test then go back and edit thats how its been going.

alt text

most of the left portion of the map is finished now working on finishing the right portion of the map

Who would like it if I put 'Heights' out in the Wild(Public) as I work on it.

I know I have done it with Bismark Trails and people enjoyed it

Disclaimer : Heights Still Requires STMR+ mod in order to actually function.

W/o the mod it will break the game, as in your vehicle will be messed up and you aren't able to move.

Heights has been opened to the public and ready to be trailed on

@architectwilliam It's a cool concept, but to the extreme that this is, it's too fictional for me. I've worked with heightmaps and created amazing looking things. Try some heightmaps from the arizona desert. Cool stuff out there.
