after looking into this futher and playing a couple of games with both I wouldn't say that their play-style is totally different they very much do play the same its just the craft world elder need less micro also they have pretty good damage so its not bad but i still think having the highest tier ship be a battle cruiser might hurt them on the a sort of grand scale so to speak.
@romeo I agree with you but i was taking into account the amount of time left more the game launches and the craft world elders highest tier ship is like a battle cruiser there ships are fast but die quick. I'm just not sure that can put enough damage down range fast enough before they start dieing. So unless either they have ship models ready to go or they have a damage buff or something i don't see what the point of them being when everyone's most likely just going to play raiders.
This really depends on the kind of build your going for and who you are facing. Most of time when playing IN (imperial navy) i just use lances and novas really. macros cannons will miss most of their shots a mid to long range and due to the about of factions that have long range engagements your better of with lances. Lances also shred armor well and have very high accuracy. you also need to remember the cost difference between the two the dictator is like 40 points more and you get a torp launcher and spur for ramming but if your just looking for a cheap way to spam fighters and bombers then Defiant might be a better pick and this isn't including any ability's.
@fosil That's what i'm saying but they don't have Survivability to make this viable. At the moment they don't have anything they they do well, they cant bring as many ships, firepower is garbage, health and shields aren't great, armor is okay. They just cant survive long enough to make boarding viable.
while im not sure either it looks like they got rid of it and to be honest the customization in the first game really wasn't over the top or complicated like at all so i don't know why they would and yes I agree with you about dumping most of the skills onto the flagship (as in i'm against that).
so this would be stupid cause people stopped playing the first game cause of the massive balance problems with the factions so like i said i would be shocked if they did that and yes it would hurt the game a lot many people simply wouldn't get it for that reason.
they should just combine the two elder factions together and the same from tau while I haven't played with them yet i was looking around at there ships and the elder really seem like they could use that. maybe I don't know what i'm talking about but those factions seem rather weak (more talking about elder than tau at this point) and to be honest it seems like needless padding to game that already has way more factions than any strat game i can think of at release. The Craft world elder ships look pretty useless to me as a standalone faction, though i will try them out to be fair but from one i can see what the point?
haven't tried this out yet been focusing on the imperium but going to give this a look . one of the main problems with the first game was to balance problems so HOPING that this game isn't going to have like 2 or 3 factions that kill everything and the other factions are niche don't waste your time factions.
