@jmantheboss Co-op mode is cooperative, not competitive. Those who want to compete can play one of the competitive game modes. I don't mind others getting more kills than me; I do however mind when they stand around at the end of the map trying to kill loads of zombies instead of just finishing, or concentrating on getting "the high score" instead of helping their team mates up. Having a "leaderboard" at the end of a cooperative game really makes little sense. The other stats are fine because they either encourage teamwork (most teammates helped up) or are miscellaneous and won't change your playstyle, but the kill count does neither.
The fact that you talk about competing in co-op mode tells me you are one such person who is influenced by this stat. As someone who enjoys this game for the cooperative aspect, please play with your team rather than against them.
Been playing the slasher class with the perk that allows you to stand up after 5 seconds of being pinned/incapacitated, and have noticed that if an enemy (particularly the creeper) incapacitates you and isn't killed (say, if you're away from your silly bot team mates) it can instantly attack you again when you get up, before you have any chance to do anything. I'd imagine it's the same case if there are a few regular infected around you. Kinda defeats the purpose of being able to get up again, doesn't it?
I think it'd be a nice improvement to add a second or two after getting up where you're invisible to all enemies, sort of like how the masking grenade works. I believe this is what L4D does.
Some really irritating issues that make the game unplayable at times:
Kicking a player does not ban them from the session, so they can keep rejoining and TKing as much as they want.
It's impossible to kick a player from the lobby, so you have to wait until you're in-game (which means he'll TK you, and then he'll just keep rejoining if possible).
When calling a kick vote in-game the interface doesn't show the player names, so you have to click/hover over the portrait (question marks for all players) in order to see who you're kicking, which makes no sense.
It'd be great if we could have these basic issues addressed, so that we can reasonably play public games without having to worry about people ruining it for us, with us being absolutely powerless to do anything.
In a game mode that's purely about survival and cooperation we have a stat that shows who killed the most zombies, as if it's a competition. I don't like that, because in my experience there are many players who care more about this stat than covering their teammates. It also encourages people to berate the lowest-killer, even when they have been supporting the team the entire game with their stim gun or whatever.
I know it's not usually asked to remove something to improve the game, but I think this one small thing could have a positive impact on how people play in co-op. In its place it might be good to show the amount of times a player protected another player, or the amount of friendly fire inflicted.
What do you guys think?
To put it another way, would anyone here be against removing the stat, and why?
They REALLY need to optimise their updates. Some code changes might account for a few kilobytes of that, but there's no way it needs to be so huge.
If anyone has a more official source that would be appreciated.
