@bez the devs can do whatever they want with the engine. They can completely remove UE4 default netcode and implement their own one. UE4 is awesome tbh.
Sniping in CQB
i see what you did there
@jensiii well, arguing for low TTK has nothing to do with realism .
for everyone interested here is a "benchmark" I did with my current settings and setup. Since the game has no actual benchmark I had to choose a reproducible scenario so I can compare future builds / other users can compare their setup.
Tool: Fraps for benchmarking (30 second benchmark, frametimes), Frafs for the resulting graph.
Map: Crossing, remove bots via the debug menu
- Ryzen 1700x @3.8ghz (with SMT [=hyperthreading for intel])
- Gainward GTX 1060 6GB @stock-photo, Driver: 399.24
- GSkill TridentZ 16gb cl14 @3200mhz
- Samsung EVO SSD
Keep in mind this doesn't reflect actual ingame performance, as nothing happens!
you can't bunnyhop in this game...
not to mention this example says nothing. He could have been hit in the arm...did the enemy sniper have a long barrel? What range was the enemy sniper? Did he wear armor etc. etc. pp.
It's another generalized example to push a weird agenda.
Today I did this: I was standing still behind a building and looking towards an objective, suddenly a damage marker appears pointing directly behind me, I flick around 180 degrees and mow down the security soldier who was shooting at me with his 5.56 mm rifle with my fullauto AKM hipfire spray. And I thought "this shit is exactly what I'm talking about on the forum, where no one believes me that it happens". That dude was like 2 meters away from me and I was standing still, there is no way he only hit my legs or something like that.
Sorry, but without proof i don't believe this kinda stories, simply because that never happens to me. Literally never, unless i get extremely bad hitreg, but hitreg and TTK are different issues.
Even if: if he couldn't kill you, he is bad. He got punished. He will learn. That's how learning works. You make mistakes, you learn.
^^ this + good players don't rely on luck. Bad players do. A good player will try to minimize his luck.
Something is just wrong with the hitreg. Look at this:
Earlier i was sniping and BARELY got hit, sadly i didn't clip those. Like... non-moving mid-range targets... not hitting on straight chest.
I feel like the game has 2 different issues atm:
- hits not registering on the server despite the client getting clear validation (as in my clip above. blood + headshot sound)
- shots just flying through enemies without any validation
How does the hitreg work? Does the server check for hits first and THEN the client shows the hit?
Something is terribly broken. Esp. with snipers i think.
