With your server running 1.2 (and nobody playing ) Make sure the server window is active and Press Ctrl+C together. Mine goes through the shutdown process, but hangs on exiting and the window doesn't close.
Okay yeap, I get this problem too if i use Ctrl+C. If I use the red STOP server button on your server assistant after i press Ctrl+C and the window doesn't close, the console window closes though.
Also, using the red STOP server button to stop the server (when it's running) will close the window properly.
Also just so you know, v1.3 is out too which added Ministry and Frenzy Checkpoint. LOL.
Is the new gamemode Hardcore Checkpoint available for dedicated server? I don't see any mention of it in the server docs.
No idea. Their server documentation is outdated, and up to now still hasn't been updated even though in one of their latest blog posts, they talk about referring to the server documentation to find out how to enable XP gain for community servers.
Can anyone else confirm that either pressing Ctrl+C or sending the quit command via rcon, the server goes through the exiting process but doesn't actually exit? This is causing me some issues.
Not very sure what you mean by this? I haven't had any problems turning off the server by just pressing the stop server button in the assistant interface. Haven't tested with 1.2 though. Have been running using .bat file.
Guys, let's give Pointy a break. Everyone has their own life and priorities outside of gaming. He's doing this as a hobby, he's got no obligation to update this immediately as soon as a new patch comes out. It's not like we're paying for it.
As a workaround solution in the meantime, if you have run the server assistant before, before the 1.2 update, the server assistant has already configured all the necessary files for your server to run, with all the settings you configured last time. You just need to find out how to create a .bat file to check for updates to Sandstorm using steamcmd, and another .bat file to run the server.exe, and you're good to go. That is what i'm currently doing, and everything's running as per normal. If you roughly know how to configure the files, you just need to add outskirts to your mapcycle file, and you'll be set.
Try using this link as a guide for running the steamcmd to check for updates, and to create a .bat file to start insurgencyserver.exe:

The new patch is out i think, my friends are telling me there's an update for Sandstorm. I hope the server assistant is able to run with the new map added.
Updating the files now.
EDIT: It seems like the server is running as intended, although you won’t be able to select Outskirts map using the server assistant interface, so you won’t be able to start the server with Outskirts, or put it into your mapcycle file.
Hello Pointy, I using your Server assistand and it works so good, I cant get an server up normally (it dosent want to intilazed steam but with your program it works perfect! One problem I have with your assistant is that I want more then 30 bots and I wonder if you could try to set it higher? It would be good if you atleast can set it up to 100 (No I wont use 100 bots but would be fun to try sometime), what I am trying to get on my server are around 60 bots atleast and if I take the config file and change the settings for myself your assistant puts it back to 30 again when I start the server.
This would be an easy fix if I could just take the config file and open up the server the normal way but since it wont intilazed steam with steam then its hard
Depending on the way NWI built their game, this might not be possible. For example, Insurgency (as far as I know) has a maximum cap of 49, this includes bots + players, so at any one time you can only have a total of 49 characters in the game. I'm guessing Insurgency Sandstorm should also have something like this in the coding.
And it possible to run the server and play on the same machine, I did it with my server Killing floors 2 but when I run the server the game also starts
Thanks for your help
Yes. I'm doing exactly that. Run the server before opening Steam. When your friends join the server, they can use the normal server browser way. When YOU join the game, connect directly via IP, and use 127.0.0.1:XXXXX (XXXXX being the port you set for Game Port in the server assistant).
Make sure to port forward all the ports you used in the server assistant.
Not sure why your game also runs when you run the server. Did you make sure Steam was not on? You have to quit Steam before you run the server. It can't be minimized in your system tray, it must be totally off.
Sorry for the lack of responses, I am still alive.
I haven't done anything with Insurgency Sandstorm Server Assistant in a while, other than fix the known discord bot bug. I have been waiting to see what happens with the game and feedback, bug reports, the latter of which I have had very little.
Haven't chanced upon any bugs yet, everything seems to be working fine except for this issue that @G-Force49 mentioned. I too do not know what that slider affects?
Under MultiPlayer there is a setting for Bot quota: the slider goes from 0 to 1 The tooltip states "Damage modifier for friendly fire". I am not sure what this is for or how to set it.
Also, does anyone know whether the bot difficulty slider in the in-game admin menu works? It seems to always reset itself to 0.5 all the time.
