Just a simple suggestions that will help stunty (Halflings and Goblins only) teams a bit.

Simply do not count Treasury above 150k towards TV. This allows you to hoard some cash and get those crucial Bribes and the crucial Master Chef a bit easier.

Take it easy on the pitch stunty lovers!

Why don't we just simplify it even more, If coachname = Enarion and race = Halfling = automatic playoff ticket.

Because it'd be seen as a derivative of the "If coachname = Enarion, automatic chat ban from cKnoor's twitch stream" formula. In general, math formulas shouldn't include "if" statements because they're math, not programming.

chuckles

Well, I wanted to confront the root cause of the +300TV for Halflings debacle. cKnoor and his fanboys had the notion they were designed to always be TV down and designed to always have inducements. Which was false.

First time I got temp-banned from a twitch chat. 😉

@Arne You make a good point, but I like the fact that a 10-0-0 will still get me qualification in most of the races (18 out of 24) even at this stage of the season. It spurs me on to keep re-rolling teams and retrying. If I had to play 20 or 30 games with a new team to stand a chance, I probably would lose interest in the latter half of the season.

You kind of have to play roughly 20-30 matches to get the team developed to be able to be competitive in the Play-offs though. 🙂

Which kind of strengthens my point on the matter. I.e. they perform best against equal TV. But if they are facing higher TV teams, then they need cheap inducements to be able to be competitive, because just a few skills like block, tackle, can wreck havoc to them.

I don't think there are many disagreeing with that. Certainly I am not.

Well, that ngutron fella seems to think they can only perform well with stars and as underdogs, when in fact they perform worse.

I am 14 matches deep into this season currently, 7-3-4, win ratio of 60% or so, I find it odd that a 3-0-0 Halfling team is considered better in the ranking.

Plasmoid,

But we don't want inducements all the time, as a fling coach. They perform best at equal TV or as upper-dogs, I thought that was established in this thread. But in case we are the underdogs we do want access to cheap inducements. Hence I can agree to the 50k chef instead of the 100k chef, so it's easier to to scum the Master Chef as a Halfling coach.

I don't like the idea of a rostered Master Chef on the team. That was possible in the old rules, when Halflings & Gobbos were tier 2 teams, the rest tier 1 teams.

JimmyFantastic found this quote from GalakStarscraper the other day, found over here at the bottom of the page.

"As for Halflings. Halfing inducements are designed for them to be competitive. However as has been stated ... a good Halfling coach will be managing TV to work well. If a Halfling coach plays against another Halfling coach at his TV it should be a game that works as intended. Halflings by design are meant to only win between 30% to 35% of their games. (same for Goblins and Ogres). So the point here is that against equal TV Halflings should be okay but when teams start getting skills Halflings more than other teams need an extra boost to even up larger TV differences which is why they have really kick butt inducements. Its not because they can only win if they have inducements ... its because if they have a TV difference in match that needs a higher level of inducements ... they need really good ones."

Key sentences here are: " So the point here is that against equal TV Halflings should be okay" & "Its not because they can only win if they have inducements".

Which kind of strengthens my point on the matter. I.e. they perform best against equal TV. But if they are facing higher TV teams, then they need cheap inducements to be able to be competitive, because just a few skills like block, tackle, can wreck havoc to them.

Yep. Ugly. Read the last sentence. That was enough. chuckles

Oh, I think you're in the minority if you think I was nicer in the past - you just had more substance back then so you weren't getting the pointy end of the stick. That the best you could do is react to a single sentence speaks more to what you've been reduced to than the rest of your fighting retreat in this thread 😉

I love you too, VoodooMike! hugs I don't have the time nowadays as you so politely pointed out earlier, 2 kids and a wife is a handful. chuckles

It's not intended. I reported it. Although it's not an issue anymore if we remove the TV bonus in MM.

So we finally found out it was not intended to give a 800TV disadvantage to the Halfling Team, the feature is broken, the +300TV does not have the desired effect. What I have been yapping about the entire time since page 1.

@dode74 said in Stop The Fling Suffering - End the +300TV Madness!:

Ah, "meaningless data". The cry of someone who has had the data presented to them, at length, and doesn't like the results so intends to ignore it in favour of their experience, not realising that their experience is a subset of the data and they are not necessarily representative of the whole. I'm not either, ofc, but the data is.

Dode, I said the data would be "meaningless data", do you agree with that statement since the feature is not working as intended? Or you still want to gather the 300-400 Halflings matches that will be played in Champ Ladder this season, with some random matches were a Halfling team is down up to 800TV?

Or can we finally agree to remove this feature, restore things to normal? I would like to start to play my Halfling team this weekend and enjoy them as they were meant to be enjoyed, as it was originally designed, experience coaching flings to the fullest!

As JJ said in the interview before BB1 was released, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Peace out my data-hugging forum buddies, I am done posting here. See you on the pitch! Er, who am I kidding, the likelihood of me spinning into you, Dode, or VoodooMike, according to data, is very slim.

P.S And for those that advocated that Fling Teams need inducements to function, i.e. want the +300TV, stay below 700TV in matchmaking then. Don't force feed the entire Halfling community with a bloat tag "+300TV" slapped on our arses.
