@maa_bunny It would be lethal. As @thehappybub said, the sheer blunt force would totally wreck your insides.
Soft armor is just useless against a shotgun, even without penetration. Especially at short range.
This is what you can expect from some buckshot. Just imagine that with a slug :
It's basically Saitama punching you in the chest.
@bluemouse The problem of the Striker is that it is a really malfunctioning, unreliable and atrociously designed weapon in real life. Any soldier would prefer having a single-shot shotgun rather than a Striker. Adding the weapon in the game would destroy all its credibility. There's a reason why no one uses this gun, and also a reason why it's only featured in films or video-games that do not care about only looking "cool" and being arcadey.
@ctbear1996 I would love to. I miss it too. It was most fun alone or with only one or two friends, imo. I'd like to see some game modes that require a few people only. With this engine, the possibilities are basically endless, to be honest. We can't have it all, but I'd be glad to at least have what was in Ins:Source.
Don't know about the M1208/12/16 and the SPAS-15, as it's a bit too exotic for standard armed security forces, and the Striker is definitely a really bad idea considering how shitty and useless that weapon is.
I however am all for the double-barrel shotgun for the insurgents. It's common and easy to get, reliable, simple, inexpensive, efficient. And god, does it looks good as well.
MTS-255 feels way too exotic for insurgent forces.
Everything else sounds really good imo.
Plus, the double-barrel shotgun would be easy to balance. Only 2 shots before reload, no iron sights...
They should also get rid of flechettes, which are not a thing in the military since it's only a gimmick that doesn't work. Buckshot would be weak against armor, while slugs would be really effective. They need to be rebalanced anyway, 'cause shotties are a bit useless atm. Sure, they are powerful, but they have a slow rate of fire, very few shots before reloading, and reloading takes ages. A G3 is basically the same, but more accurate and efficient at long range.
Oh, and while I'm at it, if anyone has information about hunt mode, I'd be glad to hear that as well. I like this mode, and it would be a good reason to make some smaller maps too.
Hi devs !
I just wondered about where did the torch lights, night vision and night maps went, and if they are indeed coming to Ins:Sandstorm. Now that you've got a cooler and more modern engine to work with, it could really be fun to have those.
With the Unreal Engine, I'm also thinking about how nice it would be to have some maps with different weather conditions such as fog, rain, or even snow (they do have snow in the middle east, particularly on moutains).
What do you guys think ? Have I missed any info about that ? Is it planned ?
I don't know about that. As you said, people's behaviour is already baked by standard servers. Besides, the ammount of points you get is not the only thing to take into account. K:D and number of objectives taken are more important for these people than points.
I think it needs to be removed from the game if we want to see an efficient long term effect.
I don't think that the use button for blowing up caches is a bad thing. Having the last guy of the team alive in Ins:Source with no explosives whatsoever would more often than not result in a tedious search around the map, and even sometimes force players to restart the round through voting.
Then again, I believe it is possible to blow caches up in Sandstorm by shooting them. Never tested that out, but if it works, then you're 100% right and the "use" mechanic needs to go away.
Hi devs !
Coop mode is unfortunately full of people trying to be "the best" player of the team, which leads to them adopting a suicidal behaviour, or trying to plant explosives at all costs even though someone on the team has explosives to deal with it quickly.
While I do get the presence of a leaderboard in PVP modes, I think that it's quite useless in COOP mode. It does not encourage teamwork. It makes (almost) every team member act in an individualistic and self-centered manner, often going lone wolf, instead of sticking with the team.
Maybe a "team" leaderboard would be better. A leaderboard that would show how many kills and objectives the team managed to get as a whole, and suppressing the individual stats that are useless in COOP anyway.
What do you think about it ? Wouldn't it encourage people to play as a team instead of trying to be the first one to get to the objective, or killing the most enemies ?
Yeah, same. The Kobra suffers a tad from the problem, but it's nothing to worry about, really.
The eotech sight, on the other hand, just feels broken. Can't use that to aim at a target that is more than 10 meters away.
