Other behaviours which may lead to moderator action:

  • Trolling is defined as posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of provoking other
users into a desired emotional response. Feeding trolls is in itself trolling and may be dealt with as such.

  • Flaming (also known as bashing) is defined as hostile and insulting interaction between users. Everyone likes a heated discussion, but ad hominem attacks will not be tolerated. This includes such attacks against Focus Home Interactive or developers, and employees families. Just be nice, okay?

  • Spamming is defined as either of the following:
  • Unsolicited advertising posts or links to commercial sites.
  • Continually trying to make your (possibly entirely valid) point over numerous threads in an attempt to make your grievance heard. Stick to the thread the point was originally made on, and if there is no thread for what you want to say, start one! Don't ruin other peoples' topics with your separate issues though.
  • Moderators are free to act against other behaviours at their discretion. The above is so that you know what they will act against, and consistent behaviour of the types listed above will lead to a ban.

Message Content

  • All posts must be constructive to the discussion and on topic. Only post when you have something worthy to add. Every time you are planning to start a new thread, check first to see whether there is a similar one already existing and choose a well descriptive topic title.

  • Advertising in any way (spam, hidden ads, …) is not allowed on the board without a Moderator's or an Administrator's authorization. Links to personal websites or fan websites are tolerated in the user's profile or his signature as long as they stay subtle.

  • The opinion of every user must be respected by everyone, regardless of how much it differs from your own, and is not a reason for insult.

Posting of exploits, cheats and the like

  • No game is perfectly secure, but it is accepted that we, as the player base, want it to be as secure as possible. Therefore, should you discover a cheat, exploit, hack or other security issues then you are at liberty to post the existence of said issue on the boards. You are, however, requested to NOT post how to recreate the issue for other posters to emulate, or to link to such instructions. Instead please send details to members of the Focus Home Interactive or developer teams (NOT the moderators - they're players just like you!) so that they can recreate and resolve the issues. Should you discover what you think to be an issue of this type and are in doubt as to how to proceed then contact a member of Focus, developer team, or a moderator for further advice.

  • The deliberate posting of instructions as to how to cheat, exploit, hack or otherwise render the game unfair, or links to such information, is considered a breach of these rules.

Reporting of Suspected Cheating

  • Suspected cheats are NOT to be named publicly on the boards by forum members. Any post which names suspected cheats will be edited or deleted without notice. Individual leagues may have their own reporting procedure for such actions.

Moderator Action

  • In the majority of cases, moderators will contact individuals and offer them the opportunity to explain/adjust their posts before taking direct action. In the first instance, moderators will not lock threads and will attempt to use other actions to keep the discussion alive. However, it may be necessary to lock a thread temporarily in order to allow editing or to allow a cooling-off period while users are contacted regarding their actions. If possible such threads will be reopened, or a separate thread will be opened on the same subject, in order to allow the discussion to continue.
Moderator actions may include warnings, temporary or permanent bans, usually in that order, but at their discretion based on the severity of the offence.

Right of Reply

  • We recognise that moderators are human and make mistakes. To that end, any complaints or questions should be directed either to the moderator in question, or the Community Manager, or both, by PM only. Any threads complaining publicly about moderators will be locked and deleted and the individual posting them will be dealt with accordingly.
Should you be unsure which moderator carried out the action you wish to question the feel free to send out a mass PM to all of us.

Last week we introduced you to Malos Vrykan and Arkrist Vane, the new characters in the Chaos Campaign. Now, we dive into the mechanics that you will encounter in the Expansion. The separate free update arriving with the Expansion will bring improvements to the campaigns across the board, and we’ll take a look at these next week in a final blog post.

Chaos Resources

Corruption: This is the main currency in the campaign, and works similarly to what you’ve seen in previous campaigns. You’ll use it to build and repair ships, build defensive structures, etc.

Gift of Chaos: As you conquer systems, it is prudent to pay tribute to the Gods of Chaos, as pleasing them will earn you their Gifts of Chaos. The Gift of each God is unique, and the power conveyed significant.

2019-06-11 12_08_34-BFG TCG Version _ 10698.png

Spending a Gift of Chaos will apply the respective God’s curse to a system of your choosing, as follows (exact numbers are not specified since they are subject to change prior to launch):

Khorne’s Anger: Khorne inflames the dormant rage within your enemy into uncontrollable fury. Taunts an enemy fleet and forces it to perform an assault on a random adjacent system (it will only attack enemy fleets, not its allies).

Nurgle’s Rot: Nurgle’s atrophic influence worms its way into the enemy fleet. Reduces the Fleet Power of the fleet in an enemy system.

Slaanesh’s Slavery: Slaanesh undermines the resolve of your enemy with false whispered promises. A random enemy fleet must move to an adjacent allied system.

Tzeentch’s Shifting: Tzeentch pulls the threads of fate and creates an invasion in the selected system.

Marked Fleets: Gifts of Chaos can also be spent to hire a Marked Chaos Fleet, which have four additional skills and four upgrades. Each fleet and its admiral is different depending on the God, which is reflected in the skills and upgrades they have. For example, a fleet marked by Khorne can have the Khorne Berserkers Upgrade, increasing the critical assault chance of boarding actions by 20%.

Due to the power of these fleets, it’s important to pick wisely, depending on what your strategy is... or what God you favour.

Earning Gifts of Chaos

Pleasing the Chaos Gods will grant you their Gift of Chaos. How you do this is up to you. Captured planets can be offered up to the God of your choosing. You can:

  • Ruin the system for Khorne
  • Enslave the system for Slaanesh
  • Torment the system for Tzeentch
  • Contaminate the system for Nurgle

Performing each of these actions significantly raises the cost of upgrading the planet. Upon making the offering, the God in question will grant you their Gift. The number of Gifts you receive depends on the bonuses and penalties of each planet. Certain bonuses provide extra gifts, while penalties never provide any Gifts. It’s up to you to decide whether upgrading your planets faster is more important than offering it to the Gods.

Secondary Missions:

After reaching renown rank 3, secondary missions will start to appear in battle. If you accomplish these missions, you receive Gifts of Chaos. Only one secondary objective may appear in each battle.

Khorne: Blood For The Blood God!
The player must kill X troops on enemy ships.

Nurgle: Infectus Mission.
The player has to deal X ramming damage to enemy ships.

Slaanesh: Dark Ritual.
A selected player’s vessel (not an Admiral) must not suffer any boarding action.

Tzeentch: Veiled Portal.
Defend a Chaos Portal throughout the entire mission. The Veiled Portal is a unit that can be targeted by enemy ships.

We hope you enjoyed this taste of the basics of the major new features in the Chaos Campaign! Further changes, including balancing, will arrive in the free Update. Look out for the blog post covering these changes next week! Please keep in mind that the details of the features described are subject to potential change prior to launch.

Thank you,
Tindalos & Focus Home Interactive

We hear you @Sn1percat!

For our next update and Expansion, the focus is on improving the single-player experience overall, with changes that will apply to all the previous campaigns as well.

I completely understand the request for these community features, and I can assure you the team is aware of them.

You might be pleased to know that we are going to hold a (very) small tournament with community casters that should be a ton of fun! 🙂 We will share more info on this soon.

Hi @TrueLuck
You can play the Chaos Campaign without incurring the Emperor's wrath. I won't tell anyone. 😉

As for your issue, I would suggest defeating the other factions entirely.

"The Despoiler sees his work complete, the 13th Black Crusade concluded with a blow that shook the Imperium to its foundations. He does not recognise the opportunity he has wrought. The path to glory calls you. Will you answer it, my lord?”
-Arkrist Vane, Dark Apostle

In this new Chaos Campaign, you take control of Malos Vrykan, once a loyal Space Marine, now reborn as a Lord of the Word Bearers. The first Space Marine Legion to be corrupted, they were responsible for turning the great Primarch Warmaster, Horus. True to their name, it is their creed to spread the Truth of Chaos, and their power to corrupt entire planets has earned them unmatched infamy in the Imperium.

As a true Chaos Space Marine, you know that personal power is all. So with Cadia fallen and the Imperium scattered, Vrykan is far from idle when Arkrist Vane, a Dark Apostle, approaches and whispers sinister promises of glory:

“Abaddon crows about a victory at Cadia, but this is a long war, with shifting borders and myriad, contradictory allegiances. The Despoiler does not understand what is truly at stake.”

chaos-small.jpg Malos Vrykan

In true Chaos fashion, you must prove your worth as Warlord. For each planet conquered and bent to your corrupting will, your might grows. Yet the ultimate goal is shrouded in mystery. Arkrist Vane is a creature of schemes within schemes, impossible to decipher. The question remains:

Will you ascend and claim your place at Abaddon’s side?

We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the premise for the new campaign. On June 24, you embark on a corrupting rampage across the galaxy. Before then, however, we will share more info about the Campaign and Update, so keep your eyes peeled!

The Undead Sea Update has arrived, bringing hordes of new content! Check it out in the trailer below:

Youtube Video

You can now take on a totally new mission in Tokyo aboard an undead-infested ferry, where you and your squad will battle through open decks and tight cabins in one of the game’s most intense challenges yet. But beware: a virulent new zombie type is on the loose, one which spits deadly toxins and will come back to life if not dispatched appropriately. Create your own private lobbies and enjoy the new FoV and animation quality slider.

The next updates in the post-launch content roadmap for World War Z includes a new six-skull difficulty setting, a Weekly Challenge mode, a wave-based survival mode, the ability to switch classes during PvPvZ matches, bonus cosmetics, and more.

We want to extend a huge thanks to the community for the consistent and quality feedback we’ve been receiving since the game launched. It has helped the team determine which new features to work on first.

If you have any feedback or encounter an issue, please let us know on the official forums. You can also join our Discord to meet fellow Survivors and get the latest news from the team:

The changes below are for all platforms. PC-specific changes are listed under a separate heading.

Patch Notes

New Content:

  • Added Tokyo 3 level.
  • Added new special zombie that will spawn on all levels.

New Features

  • Added private lobbies.
  • Added ability to host the game locally in private lobbies. (Only on Xbox and PS4 at the moment, same functionality will be available on PC later)
  • Added ability to disable bots in private lobbies.
  • Added UI that shows maximum difficulty each level was completed on.
  • Added FoV scale slider.
  • Added option to change PvP loadout during the game.

  • Added feature that will prevent Lurker from spawning near players that are joining the game in progress.
  • Tripled delay, which governs how often Lurker can spawn in the exact same position.
  • Constant sprinting will now aggro zombies from a bigger distance.
  • Reworked “zombie stagger” mechanics. When hit, zombies used to play a long hit animation based on gun caliber and an element of randomness. Now they will play hit animations based on gun caliber and if they are hit repeatedly in a short period. This will make shotguns and fast firing weapons more consistent at staggering zombies.
  • AI Director will spawn less primary weapons if players are already carrying tier 3 weapons.
  • When AI Director decides to spawn a small wave of zombies, it will contain more zombies, but the wave duration will be shorter.
  • Made stealth more consistent across all levels; executing perfect stealth will delay the first wave of non-swarm zombies.
  • Increased chance of spawning special zombies in idle state.

  • Compact SMG. Non-silenced version deals 8% more damage.
  • Machine Pistol. Bottom branch version 5 deals 6% more damage.
  • Machine Pistol. Increased rate of fire by 9% for all versions.
  • Sporting Carbine. Top branch versions deal 5% more damage.
  • Sporting Carbine. Bottom branch versions’ mag size is increased by 3.
  • Advanced SMG. Non-silenced version 5 deals 5% more damage.
  • Advanced SMG. Increased accuracy of both version 4’s.
  • Sniper Rifle. Top branch now has a bigger magazine and better handling.
  • Sniper Rifle. Bottom branch deals bigger damage with more penetration and accuracy.
  • Heavy Sniper Rifle. Reduced projectile size to prevent accidental detonations.
  • Revolver. Significantly increased damage. It will be able to kill a zombie on the highest difficulty with 1 shot.
  • Double-Barreled Shotgun. Doubled the distance at which damage begins to reduce.
  • Double-Barreled Shotgun. Reduced damage in PvP by 8%.
  • Secondary Grenade Launcher. Increased max ammo from 3 to 5.
  • Improved hit detection in PvP.
  • C4 will no longer detonate in midair if hit by a friendly fire (it still can be detonated after it lands on something).
  • Fixed some of the visual upgrades not showing up properly in weapon customization screen.
  • Fixed some of the weapon variant icons not reflecting actual visual weapon upgrades on that weapon.
  • Fixed Pump-Action shotgun displaying LOD model as well as the actual model.
  • Fixed gun recoil reset when swapping weapons.

  • Stim Pistol will now prioritize players in downed state when multiple targets are available.
  • If multiple players are using “Please Stand Up” perk, only one will trigger if the entire team is down.
  • All “Spawn with a Heavy Weapon” type perks will now properly adjust heavy weapons that are picked up during gameplay.

  • Improved performance.
  • Fixed several gameplay crashes.
  • Fixed several issues causing disconnects when joining friend’s game in progress.
  • Fixed issue that was causing 2 players appearing as the same character in game.

  • Fixed a large number of gameplay bugs that were causing inability to progress in levels.
  • Made some adjustments to AI Director that will make Moscow 3, Tokyo 2, Jerusalem 1, Jerusalem 3, and NY 3 slightly harder and Jerusalem 2 and Tokyo 1 slightly easier.
  • Improved navigation on Moscow 2 level.
  • Fixed issue that was causing zombie health scaling to trigger incorrectly for some zombies. In general, this makes Very Hard and Insane difficulties a little bit harder.

  • Fixed issue that was causing some weapons to deal less damage with explosive ammo active in PvP.
  • Fixed friendly/enemy player overhead marker not appearing in some cases.
  • Fixed “Floor is Lava” trophy not triggering correctly.
  • Player will no longer drop defense kits when picking up C4 charges in Japan 2 level.

Hey everyone,

Today we’re launching a preview of our upcoming 1.3 update on our Community Test Environment. We invite you to try new map, game mode, weapons, weapon optics, community server XP gain, and more. Just go to your Steam Library and download the “Insurgency: Sandstorm Community Test Environment.”

The update includes a remastered version of one of our most popular maps from the original Insurgency, ‘Ministry’. Set mostly indoors, Ministry features more tight, CQB-focused combat than any of our other maps. Ministry will be availible for Firefight, Skirmish, Team Deathmatch, Checkpoint, and Hardcore Checkpoint game modes. Right now only Versus game modes are available, but Coop game modes will be added later.

We’ve also included a brand new Arcade game mode ‘Frenzy Checkpoint,’ which we revealed in detail earlier this Spring. Teams will have to try to battle waves of faster, more aggressive AI that are armed only with melee weapons. However, we’ve thrown in some twists, with special enemies with unique abilities like the athletic Jumper, the hulking Bruiser and the explosive Flamer.

Youtube Video

Players should also expect some new hardware to play with. The VHS-2 (for Security) and the QBZ-03 (for Insurgents) assault rifles will be available for the Rifleman, Demolitions, Commander and Observer classes. We also added new optics including the 1x Micro Red Dot for Security and the 1x MARS for the Insurgents.

Finally, we’ve implemented a method which should allow most community servers that are close to our official rulesets to award experience. Details are available in our Community XP Server Admin.

To play, go to your Steam Library and download "Insurgency: Sandstorm Community Test Environment. Please remember that this is an early preview build, sp expect some issues. If you do notice and problems or have general feedback about the new content, we encourage you to post in the CTE subsections here on the forums, or the Steam forums.

CTE Known issues

  • Refinery has been removed from the matchmaking pool, due to an issue with the NavMesh for bot movement. We ask that community servers owners avoid running any coop scenarios on this map until the issue is resolved.
  • Tutorial bug: First-time players who have never completed the tutorial before will not be unable to progress fully through the tutorial due to some recent changes. The tutorial can still be played in its entirety on the live version.
  • Beta tattoos not showing properly in the Appearance menu.
  • Game audio randomly cutting out. If you are experiencing this issue, please help our team by providing feedback in this thread:
  • SLI setups making level geometry strobe, disappear, and appear dark in general. This issue has been reported to Nvidia and they are working on a fix. In the meantime they will be disabling the SLI profile for Insurgency Sandstorm until this is resolved, we will update you when this occurs. As a temporary workaround we suggest players running the game in SLI temporarily disable SLI for Insurgency Sandstorm themselves.
  • AI weapons may occasionally continue looping audio for some players after the AI has been killed.
  • Class presets not be saving correctly on exit for some players.
  • Various clipping issues with cosmetics overlapping each other.
  • Turrets may jitter when the vehicle is moving.
  • Binoculars may appear to be floating in front of the character in third person.
  • Cosmetic items main slots will not apply directly on being clicked until you back out then return
  • Equipment unlock item popups might use the incorrect background portrait.
  • Uniform Camo may not show correctly in the Appearance menu, Loadout menu or ingame.
  • Optic meshes may appear flattened when viewed with the weapon in the up state.
  • New weapons have some visual bugs, mostly WIP textures, sockets etc.
  • Post Match screen is displayed /NONE where the scenario name + gamemode are supposed to be shown. Frenzy, Ministry and Outskirts HC only

The following issues are fixed in the live build of Insurgency: Sandstorm but are still present in the CTE.

  • Equipment camo may not show correctly on ragdolls
  • Eyewear may not show the full colour correctly
  • Cosmetic items main slots will not apply directly on being clicked until you back out then return
  • Equipment unlock item popups might use the incorrect background portrait.
  • Uniform Camo may not show correctly in the Appearance menu, Loadout menu or ingame.
  • Optic meshes may appear flattened when viewed with the weapon in the up state.
