@aram_thehead Well in TW the factions are lot less asymmetrical so it works out. Though even in that game a dwarfe vs wood elve match up is a night mare for the wood elves because of the magic resistance for instance.

@aram_thehead Well I could see it being way more annoying than occasionally running into a build you cannot deal with. Say you are playing Dark Eldar or Nids. Suddenly every enemy will field a dozen escorts probes and maybe even vision upgrades. They would get completely recked. While other factions would probably not be affected too much since there is just no direct hard counter. It would probably mess up the balance beyond saving.

@aram_thehead It will certainly nerf Nids a good bit as feeding tentacles just instantly destroy retaken ships.

@aram_thehead If we knew who we would play against people would just try to out counter each other instead of making well balanced fleets. Right now a balanced fleet has a good chance against everything. Except Nids of course but they are getting massively nerfed.

@nemesor-xanxas No you don´t need to know who you are fighting. You just need to know that you should always be bringing 2 to 6 escorts. That is just part of a balanced fleet in this game. It´s not just for Dark Eldar it is also for Nids and any player that decides they want to do some kiting. Even Tau or Chaos can just sit in a gas cloud and without escort you will be totally recked if you don´t have escorts to scan them. If you don´t have escorts you have a bad build.

@zucadragon Yeah you could make a basic system where the boarder can tell their troop to attack a system and the defender can prioritize the defense of a system. Would be a little more immersive and adds some more strategy.

@aram_thehead With my tau fleet I try to engage them from range as much as possible and focus their engines. Pretty straight forward really. I save my boarding to take my ships back. Also I spread my ships out so that they cannot easily get close to all of them. If possible hiding behind asteroid fields is a huge advantage.

But this is very tau specific. Every faction will have to use a different tactic. But considering win rates and how many (few) Space marines are in Epic and legendary according to the score board I do not think they are OP at all.

@VectorStrike Well the tooltip says you get one per hook but this is not true (also how it was in the first game if I remember correctly). It is obviously a bug. I am pretty sure the Custodian is supposed to have 3 hooks then spawn 3 escorts for instance.

Well the display of rank is very often bugged after the battle but for me it was always shown correctly in the pre battle screen (though there is also a bug that shows you as unranked in the pre battle screen sometimes). But from what I can tell the rank is tracked correctly.

This sounds like you were actually in adamantium the whole time it just showed you as bronze a couple of times. it has done that for more constantly.

I don´t think it is as much of a problem as you think it is. Especially Space Marines are not much of a problem at all (I play Tau Protector and am Legendary now).

I do believe it would be both cooler, more realistic/accurate to the lore and better balanced if Troops were not an instant thing but there was some level of simulation of fighting inside the ships. You could take this quite far of course and make a very complex simulation but I think a basic bar with the opposing factions colours that slowly goes in on direction depending on how many troops are deployed and how much crew the ship has left would suffice and be much cooler.
