i might add more to this later since i don't have everything unlocked but here are the things i can think of right now:
mechanicus:
castellan robots: they aren't a boarding faction to begin with and you usually don't bring more than one battleship so that extra troop dammage is pointless.
culexus assasins: with little to deal morale damage elsewhere it doesn't do much to the enemy to lose a little extra morale.
eldar craftworld/corsair:
blessings of vaul: I have no clue why anyone playing eldar would ever get as close as within 4500 unit range as you are basically killing yourself at that point
necrons:
unstable pulse core: starpulse really shouldn't be used offensively, thus the damage increase is sorta wasted.
nids:
acid blood: any player who is aware of their surroundings wouldn't really stay in the trail for long enough to have it matter.
high density bio plasma: conventional nid weaponry doesn't do a whole lot and this skill doesn't change that.
predator instincts: whenever i tried this the crits seemed to not really happen. probably because their macros don't do much.
Tau:
seeker turrets: this isn't a range you want to be in. and if you are in this range the extra 0.5 damage isn't gonna save you.
attuned lens coating: the most use this can get is with their battleship which only has like 6 ion canons with 4 damage each. not really worth it.
feel free to correct this if you have found use for any of these or yaknow add things that i missed cuz i don't have every faction in lvl 10. i know i didn't include changes but i don't entirely know what that might be tbh.

I just thought i would throw the idea out there. like in dawn of war 2, control a single "hero" ship with lots of skills and defend against waves, fight a titan class ship, do an objective etc. think this could spice things up on the multiplayer scene. it also looks like people have talked about it before. anyway thoughts?

i seriously don't get why essential skills are locked in skirmish battles because you haven't been grinding for ages. i know you can just select ai fleets with 0 fleet points in skirmish to make it go faster but still. the concept of needing to level so you can get skills that will literally improve your chances of winning gets so frigging annoying when you see other people using skills that you wish you also had cuz they give them such an advantage.

I think this might extend the games longevity, and possibly help with waiting times. what i do know is that it would be nice for people to be able to set up lobbies where they could customize how they want battles to play. such as not having capture points, selecting one of the many events the game has such as space titans, be able to customize fleet points allowed and choose the backdrop of the battle. i know a lot of other games have this system and it has been a really good idea in other rts games. i do know you can customize this in solo skirmish vs AI but lobbies for general multiplayer would probably benefit from this as well.

I thought it might be nice for people who want to play the faction and have no clue how to make them work (like me) to have a post where someone (not me) tells em how to do it. cuz yeah, they are hard. so feel free to post some tips or fleet builds or copy something from another post if someone already made a post about it.

Not a modder myself so i'm not gonna be able to make anything but this makes me wonder how much potential this game has as a modding platform. I'm thinking of just how many different sci-fi universes could be brought into the game if someone was dedicated enough. personally i'd love to see starcraft ships duking it out. but then again i literally know nothing about modding so the tools this post gives might not relate to something like that at all.

I think i get what you mean, and it would be pretty cool to only control one "hero" type ship with lots of skills in a sort of arena or maybe fight alongside each other in waves while controlling one battleship or cruiser etc.

@solaire i have played some more with it and yeah, i've gotten it to work by making sure it stays behind brawler ships. i know how painfull it is when it's left alone.

Posts seem to mention it here and there but usually in the form of some related complaint. i figured i aught to repeat it cuz it's something a lot of people do want. the imperium chaos and nids have a huge ship roster, like it's crazy how many combinations you can have outside of the meta where spamming avengers seems to be the thing. but i do like how you can have a lanc/macro/ordenance heavy fleet or some combination because there are specialized ships dedicated to it. but in other factions there seems to only really be generalists and not that much to choose from.
I figure an inexpensive easy solution is to give some ships more focus on one thing. like necron ships with only particle whips or dark eldar ships with phantom lances instead of scythe missiles.
I also really want to stress a point from another post i made a while back and it's that craftworld eldar seriously aught to have a battleship. it just feels weird that they have as few ships as they do, this probably requires a new model but yaknow i feel like i need to throw it out there.
