The cosmetic customization is horrible. There must be an option to turn it off.
Now they are adding tattoos. Because it is totally "authentic" for rebel fighters in the middle east to have tattoos...-.-
I feel the customization in this game is so out of context and silly. They say that they want to be authentic, but from what i have seen, people running around with red shirts and yellow pants wearing ski masks and sun glasses, they just look ridiculous. Many other customization option look so out-of context too.
Now they will also add tattoos. Imagine ISIS or YPG fighters with tattoos...I wonder what other out-of-context customization will they add. Maybe bling chains around the neck that say "$$INSURGENTz$$".
Also why is it a customization option to wear a helmet? makes no sense. It should be a functional addon when you choose Heavy Armor.
Anyway, i just hope there will be realistic skins in the workshop that are actually believable and non-customizatable (thats assuming that there will be skin support in the workshop)
Or can we just disable customization altogether? That would be a treat. Fortnite killed the gaming industry i swear
@barryballsack Definitely not me. Insurgency Source is a million times better in terms of gameplay.
I think there's a fundamental confusion at play here, none of the people are asking for a 'casual' experience, they want a 'realistic' and hard-core one. IRL, body armor at level 3 or above will save you from several rifle caliber shots, with bruising only for the first few.
On the other hand, the TTK should be lowered people seem to believe that a rifle bullet can one hit a person in heavy armor, which is incredibly unrealistic and would only make sense as a 'hardcore' experience if it was a WW2 or Vietnam Era game without any body armor whatsoever. Even one 9mm or .45 to the torso of an unarmored opponent isn't guaranteed to incapacitate, that's why IRL, police are trained to double tap armed suspects..
The game with the closest depiction of real body armor is Escape from Tarkov, which might be a little too much for my tastes, especially as we're playing as relatively poorly equipped forces. But if we had to shift the game, that's the direction it needs to shift from source insurgency.
I think the biggest reasons for a perceived too high TTK is the lack of reaction to getting shot, ideally a hit should cause massive aimpunch and sway to simulate the nasty bruise a stopped rifle shot will still produce. That will stop people from calmly turning around and headshotting you in turn, and make positioning and tactics all the more important!
Also, heavy armor could always be made a point more expensive, and slow users more, that isn't an issue of realism or hardcoreness at all, seeing as there all kinds of IRL body armors.
Also, now there's a use for proper sniper rifles for sniping as opposed to scoped ARs, as they're much more likely to guarantee a one hit kill at range.
Dont pretend like you are an army veteran that has survived multiple gun shot wounds and IED explosives...We all know you dont have any clue about what you are talking about. Nobody here wants a 1-to-1 real life experience military shooter. That's just plain dumb. We want the game to have the same fun core mechanics of the original insurgency (which is only a video game btw, not a real war simulator).
So i dont care whether armor can stop bullets in real life or not. I just want this new insurgency to have the same mechanics of the old game, with additional improvements like better graphics, better animations, more guns, more attachments, more maps...etc.
@thehappybub I totally disagree with EVERYTHING you said. This game is notorious for its lethality (Insurgency Source). If you want a casual game, then play CoD or BF.
@mefirst You have no idea what you are talking about. As a sniper, i always make a hard decision if i should take the 7x scope or the AP ammo. Grenades or AP ammo. Heavy armor or AP ammo..etc.
What you said make no sense at all. Part of the fun experience was making tough decisions about sacrificing gun power for other tactical options, before going into battle.
What made INS Source really good is its lethality. every single bullet shot is extremely threatening and dangerous. Now Sandstorm is basically a CoD clone where everyone is running around frantically because its takes too long to die.
The choice of AP ammo also made the player make very hard decisions when customizing.
Should I remove AP for a 7x scope? Should i take AP, but without an extended magazine? Should i take AP, but no grenades? Remove my heavy armor for AP ammo?...etc.
It made the player think about sacrificing power for more strategic options. Now you can basically add a thousand attachments and customization options, and you'd still have points to spare.
This game is losing its way.
@bluemouse I really hope they deliver on what they promised. INS Source is literally my favorite FPS.
I have played many Betas before, and yes. They are almost near completion before release. All they need is a few tweaks here and there, and the game will be ready for the public.
But this game is no where near a Beta state with all the issues it has. It has a serious problem with its core mechanics. In a Beta stage, these issues must have been resolved LONG ago. It seems more like an early access Alpha.
This is why I refunded the game. Judging by history, games released after their beta stage are almost identical, only few minor glitches would have been resolved, and optimization and stuff like that. But since you showed that INS Source Beta was radically different than the release, this gives me hope in the developers.
I shall wait and see.

Wow I wonder what a beta is.
The game right now feels like an Alpha more than a Beta.
Also the invisible pants means that you didn't delete your profile from beta 1 and they removed whatever clothing item you were wearing.
So that is your fault not theirs.

Yes they are LITERALLY trying to sell me this game, this is their entire purpose. They are a business company, they want to sell products to earn profit. LOL
I will wait to buy it again when the game is in a state that can be considered complete.
Here are all the reasons why i think the game needs A LOT more time before release:
-Too many bugs (ex. my male character has a woman's voice and has invisible pants)
-horrible hit registry
-horrible damage model (2-3 bullets to kill with a bolt action sniper????)
-horrible recoil balance (some automatic guns have virtually no recoil, others are just ridiculous)
-Cringy voice acting
-Feels like another BF/CoD clone
-unbalanced pace of the game
-unbalanced match duration (some duration end in 5 minutes, others last 40. it makes no sense)
-No sense of teamwork
-feels unpolished in general (ex. un-intuitive main menu UI & mouse sensitivity varies from in-game to in-menu)
And the list goes on.
The Devs want to sell us a half-baked game. We all know how well that went for No Man's Sky Dev team. Won't fool me twice.
The game needs much more time before being released. At this stage, it still feels like an early-access ALPHA.
So disappointed. This is coming from a person with more than 800 hours of Ins Source

There is NOTHING broken about that. This is exactly how we always wanted the game! To be able to kill and get killed with 1-2 shots only, just like Insurgency Source.

It will take me ages to upload a video, but i will try...But all my problems are exactly like what @Benz posted. The shots are not guaranteed to land. it almost like a gamble when you try and shoot someone.
I still need to spray and pray and hope i get a kill. TTK definitely improved after the update, but SOO many of my shots are not registered. Specially when playing as a machine gunner.
I learnt that using control bursts on an enemy is completely useless, because chances are I wont kill him, so now i spray'n pray that from the 20 bullets i shoot on 1 guy, a few of them will get him and he'd die.
INS Source had very clean gun mechanics. If you shoot a guy, it is 100% guaranteed to hit him...I never fired full auto with a machine gun, only single bullets or controlled bursts. Now is definitely not the case

EDIT: Oh yeah and i still get lag spikes and stutters, even when my ping is around 50!

@malarki83 Play PVP... You need like 6-7 shots from an AK to die, or 3 shots from a damn bolt action sniper to die!!! So there is no fear of running across a street, because you know people will either miss, or not hit you enough times to kill. It became so much less tactical than the first insurgency, where it only needed 1 or 2 bullets from an AK to kill someone. Every bullet was threatening, and made you feel genuine fear (specially when you are the last man standing)
@malarki83 New means upgrading the game while maintaining the core mechanics. Not changing the whole thing to pander to a wider and more casual audience. CoD and BF players are used to run'n gun. This game was never intended to be like that.
