PS4 Champion Ladder Rules - Season 20

Champion Ladder Rules PC / Champion Ladder Rules Xbox One

  • Fresh teams (max 1000 Team Value) with rookie players only may join the league.

  • Over 5 concessions by a coach in a season and you're booted for the remainder that season - that's a coach limit, not just a team limit. Get booted two seasons in a row and you're banned for the third season. Disconnections which fail to reconnect will count as concessions. Tactical concedes are allowed but count as one of the five concedes.

  • Champion Ladder season 20 ends Wednesday 9 January 2019 at 11:59am (CET).

  • At the end of a season, 32 coaches qualify for the seasonal playoffs ("Champion Cup"). The season will qualify the best team of each race + 8 "wild cards" for best ranked second best teams of each race.

  • If a coach qualified a top race team and a "wild card" team, the top race team is the one qualified by default. You can contact our admin team to qualify the other team(s), but if they haven't received any message by the end of the season, ticket will be sent to default first choice.

  • If a coach qualified more than one team as a top race team, the highest ranked team is qualified by default. You can contact our admin team to qualify the other team(s), but if they haven't received any message by the end of the season, ticket will be sent to default first choice.

  • The 32 coaches and their teams plays in a Knockout tournament with Cyans on the line (see below).

  • Blood Bowl fans love a good killer, sorry I mean winner! To prove it, the winner of the CCL knockout tournament can select one player from their new team in the next CCL season ladder to have the Fan Favourite skill.

    • The Fan Favourite skill must be applied before the team plays a game.
    • The champion can only select one team and one player to receive the Fan Favourite skill (no restarts).
    • If the Fan Favourite player plays a minimum of 30 games in the season and survives, the champion can pick another player to have the Fan Favourite skill in the following season too.
    • If the champion does not take part in the next season, then the fans quickly forget about them. Use it or lose it!

This skill is described in LRB6 as follow:

Fan Favourite (Extraordinary)
The fans love seeing this player on the pitch so much that even the opposing fans cheer for your team. For each player with Fan Favourite on the pitch your team receives an additional +1 FAME modifier for any Kick-Off table results, but not for the Winnings roll.

Winning a Blood Bowl 2 official season will be the only way to get this skill.

To the champion, congratulations! To everybody else, happy hunting...

  • 2800 Cyans and €950 are distributed in the Champion Cup, as follow:

    • 1st
      • €500

  • To be absolutely clear, fouling is allowed at any time you are allowed to do so. So is stalling (i.e. clock management). These are not exploits, or considered unsportsmanlike in this league.

  • Kids play this game too, so bear that in mind when making your team. Your team may be ejected from the league if the team name and/or player names are considered offensive by the admin team and/or Focus/Cyanide. You're expected to behave when playing in the competition.

  • If you concede during a playoff match you may be banned for up to three seasons. Playing the game to completion is very important to ensure integrity and fairness for other competitors.

  • The intent of CCL is to create an environment founded on the principles of fair play and sound community. To that end, should people be found to be going against either of these principles action may be taken against them. For guidelines as to how to behave:

    • Don't be a dick in-game. If it feels like what you are doing might be construed as going against the principles of fair play then ask an admin. Asking before acting will not lead to sanction, but acting before asking very probably will.
    • Don't be a dick out of the game. Having a laugh is fine, but doing so at someone else's expense is not even if you think they deserve it.
  • Admins are granted, and reserve, the right to sanction such behaviour in-game and/or to edit or delete posts they find to contravene the above and/or to mute, ban or kick (temporarily or permanently, from discord and/or the league) individuals who make such posts.

When in December? I'd love to know so I can schedule some playtime 😃

We plan to release a gameplay trailer and the announcement of the exact dates of the first pre-order Beta in the coming days 🙂

Edit: and it's live! The first pre-order Beta will take place December 5 to 12 and gameplay trailer is here. Cheers!

@romeo said in Devblog #4 - Skirmish & Multiplayer:

Are we still getting Skirmish Progression in singleplayer? Because I adored that system in the first game.

The progression system is only available in ranked multiplayer.

@fosil said in Devblog #4 - Skirmish & Multiplayer:

will there be a point decay over time for ranked, if an admiral/account is no longer active?

As far as I know, there isn't any decay for now.

posted in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada read more

Greetings Admirals, and welcome back to the devblogs for Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. Today’s topic is multiplayer and skirmish modes, giving you a look into the non-campaign offerings you’ll have access to not only come release, but as part of the first pre-order beta starting early December.

This includes ranked play, 2v2, as well as standard versus AI, across a massive variety of possible matchups, battlefields, and environments.

0_1542879573841_BattlefleetGothicArmada2_logo_05.jpg

The base skirmish and multiplayer game is a randomly generated map with five capture points and a number of possible environmental effects. These range from those familiar to players of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, such as gas clouds and asteroid fields, as well as weirder phenomenon new to the sequel - a fleet of space titans migrating through the area that cause heavy damage to any ship they come into contact with, or pulsing solar radiation that render shields useless.

All of these settings can be customised before a skirmish game, letting you pick the point totals of fleets, which environmental effects will appear, whether to use the capture point Domination ruleset or the simpler Deathmatch mode, and so on.

0_1542879564521_Skirmish Map Settings.JPG

In Ranked play, fleets are set to the new maximum of 1200 points, increased from the original game for larger, more action-packed battles, and environmental effects are turned off. Capture points are on, with randomised locations to make every battle different, and internal logic to ensure battles will never be unfair, but will require dynamic tactics. The same is true for 2v2 ranked, only each player fields a fleet of 600 points of their chosen faction.

For those that want to get right into the action we have pre-defined fleets across a broad spectrum of playstyles, while more advanced players can customise their own faction fleet with any combination of ships they like.

On top of all this, a number of quality of life changes have been implemented to make multiplayer and skirmish games better than ever. Balance has been improved across the board, a process that will continue through our two pre-order beta phases. We’ve also made changes to menus and ergonomics to make it faster and easier than ever to get into a battle, and multiplayer progression is rewarding in terms of cosmetics and new options for skills and fleet upgrades.

Care was taken to ensure this never feels like a power reward for playing more, but simply new options and ways to play. This progression system is only available in ranked mode, as a way to further reward those who jump into multiplayer and experiment with different fleets and strategies.

In ranked play, every battle impacts your position on the global leaderboard, filterable by faction. Hone your skills to be the best admiral in your faction!

We believe we have a complete and exciting offering for multiplayer in Armada 2, which will delight new players and series veterans alike. We can’t wait to get it into your hands officially early next year, as well as take your feedback and make changes in the upcoming pre-order betas.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 releases on Steam in January 2019. You can already pre-order for Beta Access before the release of the game, and a 10% discount! http://bit.ly/BFG2Steam

Returning Battlefleet Gothic: Armada players on Steam instead benefit from a 25% loyalty discount on their preorder of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2.

posted in A Plague Tale: Innocence read more

Welcome back to our Roots of Innocence series of articles, where we’re unveiling more details and info about the making of A Plague Tale: Innocence, Asobo Studio’s upcoming adventure game, coming 2019 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

A Plague Tale: Innocence sees our two heroes, Hugo and Amicia, fleeing the Inquisition through the hostile French Aquitaine countryside, surrounded by dangers. Today, we’re taking a look at the background work by our team to ensure the game is grounded in an authentic medieval setting - discover the way of life in this period, and how we represent it within our story.

0_1542374360808_EP.2.jpg

Amicia and Hugo are of noble lineage, the De Rune family, whose heirs have both privilege and duty. In the fourteenth century in France, the feudal order still had the power to govern people. This means the Central Power is linked with the relationships between lords, serfs and peasants. Each lord owes protection to their people, in exchange of various services, such as land cultivation, sending men to war, tax, drudgery, and so on.

Amicia and Hugo are born to the highest level of society, Bellatores (nobles, those who fight - prince, lord and knight), and are spared from the tasks typically expected of other social classes - Laboratores (peasants) and Oratores (churches). They have the privilege of better education than other children their age, but are still vulnerable to the hardships they encounter.

In 1348, 90% of the population belonged to Laboratores. This class lived in extreme poverty. Their shelters, made of stone or mud, often covered with thatched roof and dirt floor, were basic and offered little protection. In comparison, the lords’ castle residences had extraordinary strength and strategic locations, which allowed them to avoid enemy attacks and protection from forces of nature. Thanks to the remaining traces in the South-West of France, we visited many architectural inspirations that allowed us to create the environments through which Amicia and Hugo wander during their adventure.

0_1542374406798_EP.2.SaintEmilion.jpg

These living conditions, in addition to food frugality and periods of shortage, contributed to the short life expectancy of Laboratores. It was rare that a peasant lived beyond the age of 40 years. The concept of age in the medieval period is quite different from nowadays. The fourteen-year-old girl, Amicia, like all the other girls of her age and often from the age of twelve, is already considered as adult. The reason why she can escape from her duty is her strong character and her father, Robert’s patience which spares her from marriage until now.

Her higher social class also allows her to educate herself. In the medieval period, people from noble families tended to make use of nannies, servants, but also preceptors to refine their offspring’s education. Most knowledge was held by the Church. Some natural phenomena were even ‘discovered’ by monks, such as rainbows and rising water, with a ‘scientific’ definition. Nevertheless, the clergy chose to keep these ‘discoveries’ secret due to the fear of losing their influence.

0_1542374444623_gibet_logo.jpg

It is in this complex and highly codified world that Hugo and Amicia must move forward at all costs, between responsibilities given by their social class and their desire to survive. Still, they must be careful not to lose each other.

See you soon for more information and exclusive anecdotes about the creative process behind A Plague Tale: Innocence!
