And your point is? Running silent is a significantly better stealth ability than shroud, and taking out decks forces them to go to gas clouds which limits their advantages. It hardly matters, if a ship is in running silent stance they aren’t running reload or other stances which means less DPS.This isn’t a problem, and is definitely not OP
I don’t see the problem with that? How does having shroud make running silent over powered? It is redundant even, if they are running silent they are cloaked all the time, if they only have shroud they are cloaked until you see them. Not much of a problem.
@von-krieger you must clearly have a lack of scanning abilities in your build. A competent player who brings enough escorts and manages to protect them can easily keep a Deldar player revealed for large periods of time. I would recommend using fighters (if you have them) to scout out where you think a Deldar attack is likely, using probes to lock down points and no less then two escorts for scanning purposes. This should improve your ability to shoot at Deldar.
This test is pretty pointless, in order to test this theory I played the exact same brawling DE build in ranked matches, very similar to how it was played in the clip (sitting still and firing with re load). I beat a few players (the wins were very close) but it was not very effective. A player playing well with good use of boarding was able to capitalize on low Deldar leadership and cripple the strategy. Particularly Necrons were able to counter it well, using the shockwave ability to cancel torpe and teleporting to eliminate range advantage. So no, Deldar aren’t a brawling faction, but they can be if the enemy does not properly use the abilities at their disposal.
Before he crit changes an opponent would be able to crit things like generators (no more stealth), crit decks (destroy already poor morale) and crit engines to get rid of their speed. AFK Deldar didnt work nearly as well if the opponent made use of their abilities effectively. Mindlessly standing there Deldar would rack up destroyed systems, compounded by the lack of any sort of protective shield. If you nerf their defense without allowing them to engage at a safe range they won’t be viable anymore.
I’m epic ranked in Deldar, and they are currently my favorite faction, but please fix them. I love playing them as a hit and run faction (as I think they are intended to be) but that isn’t really as viable with the new patch. Instead, the best strat is just having them mindlessly brawl with the enemy. Because crit chances are so low I have no need to retreat my forces, I can deal more damage than I can take and win brawls. You should absolutely not be able to effectively brawl with Deldar, and I feel like this should be fixed. I would recommend bringing back lock on, and very slightly increasing base range, then I would bring the crit chances back to pre patch levels for them. This would ensentivise a more tactical approach to the faction, and make them less over powered.
Yeah, wow. I was wondering why everyone was calling for so many nerfs. I did pretty well with the stealth strat, but I had a lot of close battles, and it felt like I was earning wins by experience. I don’t like how I can mindlessly give an attack order and spam torps to win. The challenge is nerfing them in such a way that it doesn’t ruin the ideal stealth hit and run strat.
Definitely see your point, I have been playing them stealth hit and run (which I think is how they are supposed to be played). They shouldn’t be able to brawl. What I would change is bring back lock on, nerf armor and increase crit chances against them. This would make them less tanky, and prioratizes tactical gameplay over the sit and fire method.
First, being a glass cannon has nothing to do with speed. It has to do with being able to dish out damage but not take it. Deldar are absolutely not a brawling faction, and you will lose if you try to brawl with them. I tested this by playing like a moron and brawling against AI (spoiler alert, it didn’t work). I have noticed a trend of people (not necessarily anyone here) getting out played by a Deldar player, whole ignoring any sort of scanning, and then complaining that are OP. If I am just building my Deldar ‘brawling fleet’ wrong, and there is some sort of viable brawling build, let me know as I would like to test it. Deldar should not be tanky, and I agree that they shouldn’t be able to be tanky, but I don’t believe this to be the case.
