It's good but it's not that long range and the cone isn't super wide. Works best when combined with stasis field like jawrippa says but then the ork player is using two abilities to hold 1 of your ships. Compare that to dark eldar AOE instant slowdown field, or admech warp storm, and it's not THAT powerful.

I wouldn't be against it having a tiny bit of a longer cooldown though.

I assumed my game was bugged out and the red circle was invisible. I'm honestly surprised they'd put in an AOE ability with no windup or indicator which is impossible to avoid.

I don't think escort capping is an issue. The points trickle is so slow you'd have to have ignored all of the capture points and basically let the enemy win if you've defeated his fleet but still somehow lose on capture points.

I'm really finding it hard to imagine a situation where your fleet is getting outcapped by a handful of escorts after you've won the fight. Surely, you'd just use probes and tag his escorts with yours and keep control of a point? You'd only need to control like 3 of them at max if you've won the fleet battle. If you only have like a single cruiser left and no abilities and can't control the map then you've definitely not won the battle and deserve to lose.

e: i've won once by cheesing someone with 2 stealthed light cruisers and a few escorts after I seriously lost the main engagement and got all my ships wrecked but he basically let me win because he hadn't bothered capping anything for the majority of the game and spent the entire time clumped up chasing my ships.

I feel like 700 is about right to be honest for ranked. If you want to take a big ship I think you're supposed to coordinate with an ally who's bringing more numbers for scouting and support, but right now it does feel a bit too restrictive.

Hey, I've played beta way too much and I've been enjoying it. I love orks and suck at imperials basically. I just can't find the right imperial fleet loadout or tactics for them in 2v2s. I've had more success with space marines by stealthing their light cruisers and spamming boarding action in hit and runs, and I know they're not in a great spot balance wise at the moment!

but a few ork thoughts:

The 190pnt deadnot is too cheap. I don't think it's OP but it should be a tad more expensive because it's basically a no brainer choice for a fleet.

The Bloodaxes kommando training shouldn't apply to battleships. Orks are secretly overpowered as hell with the ability to stealth everything. They shouldn't lose that because it is counterable but I feel like a stealth orked battleship is a bit over the top.

Waaagh giving a 100% bonus to criticals through assault action is maybe too strong. I think it also applies to the long range boarding zzaapp ability which makes it quite funny.

a few general thoughts about the game -

It would be nice to be able to see ship firing arcs without bringing up the panel and hovering over weapons. Maybe when holding down Alt and selecting a ship.

Scuttling is okay but the explosion is too big and it should also effect fighters/bombers. You can't even suicide a scuttled ship to kill tyranid ordnance as they're unaffected by the blast.

It feels like morale is a little bit flaky at the moment. If you ram a ship you suffer morale penalities which kinda sucks. I could be wrong about that so if anyone knows better please clarify.

Carriers are too expensive

I understand why autocast has been removed. I like the new features like torps, novas, abilities etc having limited uses but I find torpedos too micro heavy for too little reward. It might be nice to be able to use auto-cast again.

Ship stances being permanent is great. I always forgot to activate them.

I didn't see any meatshield attribute for escorts. If they get destroyed other ships shouldn't suffer morale penalities because who cares about escorts dying? that's their job.

because that would be fine for custom games but wouldn't work for automatch ranked because it has to be fixed points. you can't split the playerbase up over a ton of different things because then you'll have a super dead multiplayer community and like 20 minute wait times for a match.

i'm all for custom matches where you can do whatever you want though too

Customization is what is all about WG universe also. it's half of the game to think what you can do with it, trying crazy stuff adding more depth etc. which also creates replay value.

they are creating a worse single player experience better multi experience. but they will get money from mostly single player experience and almost nothing from PvP people if they dont change the type of the game.

So in the end we might have a game to please PvPs but financing on PvE setup.

There's 3 campaigns.

I quite like the smaller battles and having to choose between what ships you can bring, but yeah buffing it by 100-200 points would be okay.
