Thank god we gave up customization for all this amazing competitive multiplayer, eh?

@canned_f3tus why woudl there be anti-matter in a planet? 😛

In physics, the absence of anti-matter is already puzzling to us, as there's no mechanical reason for its rarity. There's no reason in 40K they couldn't just say there's an entire planet made of anti-matter, or there's a material that lends itself very well to the creation of synthesized anti-matter. When in doubt, rule of cool always takes precedence. 😛

Only unique portraits? I would like a unique skin for ships, it would be more significant

You want them to make multiplayer-only unlocks go from something that only affects multiplayer to things both singleplayers and multiplayers would benefit from? Because man, I couldn't hate that idea any more if I tried.

You know, this could have made me to come back to play(only as Navy though, playing as Chaos is too much of a hard mode already), but only portraits and achivements as a reward in a very fast duying game? If only it would be at least a chance of some cool ship skins or ship effects(different auras, shots color, etc), then hey, why not do some grinding just to show off how my pixels are cooler than yours? Or if the main reward wouls be a replay system, then we all would have grinded like crazy x)

Although the main prize is pretty cool, not gonna lie, just not something I presonally want.

Funny, I'm completely against too large of rewards. Some of us couldn't give a flying [fornication] about multiplayer. If I knew content was being locked to a competitive multiplayer mode I'd be livid.

Do you have a bigger version of that picture? I can't see a damn thing on it, but it looks awesome.

Doesn't work with 15 ships, it it was just "oh im not hitting anything I'd agree, but it's I cant get them to fire in time, I don't think it's possible.

Like @Tr3iz said, you need space (And that's not just true of making torpedoes work, but in general with the game). If your ships are all bunched up on eachother, they'll struggle to maneuver when attacking or retreating, you won't be able to line up beam weapons, ship-deployed area abilities will hit your own ships, and more. Give your fleet space to move.

THANK YOU. I'm not sure why we went there in the first place, but it's good to see that fixed.

Also the Tau Experimental Railgun (If you're in its path, it's an auto-hit).

For what it's worth @WhiteHawke, I agree. The tooptip not stating that it will always hit is a poor holdover from before, and is confusing for new players.

@ahriman And you know whats sad. People will forget about what happened and hail BFGA 3 as the next best thing since sliced bread...
If they keep making worse decisions they wont get a dime from me anymore.

Same for me. I was already a little leery of supporting them after the BS they pulled with stringing the community along for a year on the first game. But game two has completely cemented my opinion of them here: I will not buy the third game until after it's completely released, and I've researched it extensively, because I have no desire to waste my money a second time.

Step One: Take a Rokk from the Orks.
Step Two: Necronize it visually and in terms of weapons output.
Step Three: Rename it "World Engine".
Step Four: ???
Step Five: Profit.

Hi there @bublito
I've edited your message. We're very open to any criticism, but please keep it civil, thanks.

As for issues with EAC, it's important to remember that it is a separate organization with its own support system. If you are getting booted to the main menu, it should be related to one of the following reasons:

  • Your game is pirated
  • Third party software is detected (it can be very sensitive in this).
  • You've made changes to the game files.

I would advise verifying the integrity of your games files. Please let us know if this solves the issue for you, thanks!

''Your game is pirated'' if it was I wouldn't have provided a serial number to your customer support. But then again, you don't have anyone on your end to deal with those, so you're just clueless.

''Third party software is detected'' like Razer Synapse you mean? Aka something that does nothing outside customizing keys and allowing the creation of macros? Which shouldn't be blocked in the first place considering this is a fucking RTS game?

''You've made changes to the game files'' Of course I did. Wanna know what I did? I removed everything and had my bank refund this garbage you call a game.

About your other point ''EAC is a seperate organization'' yeah but you're forgetting one major thing here. Who's the retarded company that put that retarded program in their retarded game? DING DING DING, you did! You're the ones that introduced a broken program to their game, you're the ones that must answer for it.

EAC hasn't been updated in years, and it never will, you BOUGHT an unfinished program and implemented it to your game, which is causing wide spread issues among your players, and you're trying to flip the blame on the company behind EAC. They're not the ones to blame, you are, you knew what you paid for.

Cut the PR bullshit, clearly you have no idea what you're doing as a CM, and clearly there's noone else doing their job in that garbage company. You'd be aware of all these issues if you had atleast one person doing support tickets, but you don't. Because Tindalos and Focus-Home have been known to cut costs every way they can, this being one.

Jesus... You might have just made the dumbest post on the entire forums, congrats. I hate EAC, but rather than spouting off like a moron, I try communicating. Besides, if you've already refunded, why are you still whining?

@measly said in Modding Resources:

Not a modder myself so i'm not gonna be able to make anything but this makes me wonder how much potential this game has as a modding platform. I'm thinking of just how many different sci-fi universes could be brought into the game if someone was dedicated enough. personally i'd love to see starcraft ships duking it out. but then again i literally know nothing about modding so the tools this post gives might not relate to something like that at all.

You might want to look in to Sins of a Solar Empire. So far I've seen the Mass Effect universe, Star Wars universe, Star Trek universe, Halo universe and more modded in to that.

This game has basically no mod support, a very small user base and is under the thumb of Games Workshop, so you're unlikely to ever see anything from different lore.

@canardnoir said in Concerns about the player base.:

BFGA2 has been release way too soon without the tools to give it a chance in the long run. No lobby for tournaments, no replays, some features didn’t had the polish needed to keep the game fun (boarding still feels lacking, ordnance need a lot of work, to many games are frustrating not because of balance but just because of poor mechanics). As the competitive player I just stopped because grinding the ladder is painful. Half the players I’ve been matched up against seems to be bronze/silver and thoses games are stomp. It take ages to go up despite winning 75% of the time.

If the game just needed balance and had polished mechanics and community tools it would be good. Rights now the game lacks a lot more than balance patch to keep multiplayer going.

That being said some game grow in the long run even after major player lose. And I’m waiting for the first multi event in april but in the meantime without tournaments, fun lobby/events, and good multi match making I don’t really have any reason to keep playing.

Agreed. Even now, BFG2 feels more like a Beta release than a full game. Stability isn't there, there's still unlinked XMLs and several basic features seem to be missing... They should've delayed release until they were ready.

@canned_f3tus said in Perhaps to fix some issues with the balancing we need limits on the same ships?:

Putting cap limits on ships is a pretty lazy approach to balance and it doesnt really accomplish anything. All it will do is shift the meta for a short time. But when the meta settles we will have people running with the same thing all over again and it will put certain factions with limited ship pools in a bind.

It can also have a really bad effect on build varieties. Because you are now forced to play rainbow fleets and cant really shape a fleet to suit your play style because now you have all these different ships but struggle to use them effectivly for the strategy and tactics you really want to employ vs your enemies.

Not just that but it will also make the point system a redundant feature as well. The problem is that there are huge gaps in power level between the ships for each faction. I think the spamming can be resolved with some tweaks to less desirable ships like mixed weapon platform ships that appear to not excel at anything but are supposed to give you flexibility which is downplayed by upgrades like AP ammo or just getting the hard counter that will apply the damage more reliably.

That will encourage better fleet diversity and open up more strategic choices when building a fleet. Cap restriction to me is just duct tape on a wiggly tree house. If people want to spam ships they should be able to do that. But they should also be able to get smacked real good if they run 1 trick pony and have trouble climbing the ladder because their fleet just cant handle anything but certain builds.

Coming at it from a non-multiplayer perspective, the nice thing about putting limits on it is it incentivizes you to use ships you may not have (As it did in the last game). If a particular Cruiser is the best, or the Battleship is the best, or whatever, you're just going to run a fleet of all that - and with the lack of customization now, that becomes even more boring than the last game.

Again though, I also feel like GW already provided an answer for this with their bonus upgrades for taking specific combinations of forces. If you just want to spam the hell out of one ship, so-be-it, but you might be leaving power on the table that could work a bit better.

@sybarite

That latest reply is an excellent suggestion. I get that we can't have customization back in order to protect the multiplayer balance... But then give us a significantly deeper tech tree to make up for it. As it stands, it's pretty weak.

@zeblasky said in Perhaps to fix some issues with the balancing we need limits on the same ships?:

So, right now some ships are not that impressive, when deployed in numbers of 2 or 3, but when you get 4-6 of them, they become much more powerful thanks to synergy and simple spam. And such fleets are pretty boring and unfun to play against. But a solution to this problem is quite simlpe - just restrict deploying same ships by the following way:

Can't deploy more that 2 of same Battleship, 3 of the same Battlecruiser, 4 of the same Cruiser and Light Cruiser.

And I think this fixes most of the spam associated problems? After that some ships can be buffed accordingly, as they won't be spammed for the whole fleet.

Yeah. To be honest, I'm not overly crazy about the new "do whatever you want" system, personally. Though, perhaps instead of hardcapping choices, they could give bonuses for obeying certain limitations (No more than one Battleship, Two Battlecruisers, etc)?

@admiralatlas said in Sandbox Campaign Suggestion:

Idk I feel like there's actually a lot more to do singleplayer wise here. There's an actual macro aspect to the campaign. I feel the mix of an actual overworld, commanders, special events, fleet construction etc etc easily offset BFG1's 1-fleet customization. But that's jmo.

Yeah, I could certainly understand that, but to me, I loved customization. The skirmish progression from the first game had no story or campaign to speak of, but I'd say I dumped well over a hundred hours in to that, compared to the 10-20 for the campaign. This new game I've got a good 30 hours or so... But I just can't seem to find any reason for me to come back. No mods, no progression and only a few campaigns means once I've seen everything, I'm done.

Are you eventually going to a release an update to disable multiplayer and EAC? Because as a singleplayer who enjoys mods, I can't possibly figure out why any of us want to deal with it. Multiplayer guys? Sure, that makes sense. But not singleplayers.

It's funny how things have swung though, because in Beta, defensive structures basically guaranteed a victory to whoever held them. They naturally tended to end up in control points, which meant the enemy basically started with two of the five points in their control, and you couldn't take them back without focusing on taking those structures out, by which point they'd basically already won.

Hopefully, when the pendulum does swing back, it doesn't overcompensate again! 😛
