Update: it's now Oct. 13th and this hasn't been fixed yet. It's my only major gripe with the game.
Did you play previous insurgency games? If not I can assure you these devs are absolute professionals. Unlike other studios they actually support their games, push out constant updates, and listen to the community for suggestions.
I feel like your criticisms are overly harsh, but that might just be my own bias kicking in because I absolutely love this franchise--and have combined 1000+ hours across the mod, INS 2, and sandstorm.
Have you played other hard core FPS games like Arma/Squad/RO? Maybe this type of shooter just isn't for you...
Edit: just read that you have 800 hours in source. I respect your opinions, but firmly disagree. I really like the game in it's current state
I know this issue has been brought up before, but I don't think it has been 100% resolved.
I switched computers the other day, logged into the same steam account and installed INS. When the game launched, I noticed that one cosmetic item (brown insurgent cargo pants) were missing and I need to purchase them again.
I did the suggested fix of clicking "randomize" but the item didn't return.
Not a huge deal, but could really piss someone off in the future if they spend 2000 credits on a camo and lose it.
Thanks guys, and keep up the good work!
My buddies and I were noticing that we are sometimes getting left out of a wave spawn, despite being active (not afk) and simply waiting in spectator mode after a death.
It happens infrequently, but enough to be quite annoying. It also seems tied to menu actions, whether that be hitting escape, in your load-out menu, you will not spawn with the rest of the team.
We have remedied this by making sure not to press anything just before wave spawn--not an ideal solution.
Anyways, I hope that made some sense.
Great job on Beta 2, it's come a long way since alpha.
I propose this slight change to cosmetics that might make them more interesting:
*Note this applies to the security forces only.
Remove the "Camo" option and instead split the different camos into the leg and torso sections. Then simply halve the prices of every item (because the camo is now split into two sections)
This would allow for players to mismatch top and bottom camos, which will make for new unique and customizable options.
I mean, who wouldn't want to rock tiger stripe bottoms with a flecktarn top amiright?!
I think this would add more value to the cosmetics progression, and might not even require a whole lot of work from the dev team.
For those of you who think "oh but it's about realism, in the actual army they don't mismatch camo!" I totally get that, but from a gaming/progression/incentives perspective, I think this makes the most sense.
Thanks for reading and see you in game,
I found the dev response in another thread:
"Hi, we're not in beta yet, but we're currently running a closed Alpha with a few hundreds players. Registration are now sadly closed for this testing session, but we'll have more in the future."
Bummer, my buddy just got his invite and has no one to play with
